Intrigued by talk of chorus pedals in my other thread, what have you guys found that can do double duty as a nice CE-2 ish chorus and that faux Leslie vibe sort of deal? The old Arions? JHS featured an ibanez soundtank knock-off by Daphon that sounded promising. What else is out there that won't break the bank for something that will be used for color now and again and not a primary tone?

I'm not sure what your 'bank' is, but the Strymon Timeline is the king of modulation. It is a bit pricey and a little difficult to figure out at first, but it does everything, in absolute stereo. After you dial in what you want, it will replace two or more pedals from your board.

The Strymon is def. what I would consider breaking the bank lol.. not that I couldn't afford it, but that it is a lot of dough for something that I plan to moonlight a bit with and then forget about a lot of the time. For fun, let's say 80-180$ U.S dollars. Which in Canadian is probably 1.8 million by now but whatever, sometimes you have to go all in! :D

Mooer MPS1 pitch box is what you're asking about, a true sleeper.

It sounds like You need some analog Chorus. Vodoolab have good one. I have JAM pedals Waterfall, BBD chips, very lush and 3D sounding.

You are in Canada? You can't beat Diamond or Providence and they are in your own backyard.

Another great pedal that does a lot and is worth having is a Pigtronix Rototron. Does a very nice Leslie type thing as well. Super cool pedal to have around.

Everything I have listed in this post I own and like. Here are some other traditional type Chorus pedals.

Free The Tone (superb pedal)* Expensive but best sounding to my ears and many options.
Jam Pedals Waterfall*
Diamond Halo*
Providence Anadime*
Neunaber Inspire*
Thorpy FX Deep Oggin*
Boss CE variants (Waza) all nice and do their own thing.

If you want value, lightweight, small size, multiple options and high quality, the best bang for the buck IMO is the Neunaber. All of their stuff is great!

I'm a monster fan of the strymon Mobius, it nails most classic modulation FX really really well. Worth the dough!!

I think the post above suggesting Timeline actually meant Mobius. I had one and it had some cool sounds but imo Vibe wasn't a strength. Vibe and Rotary/Leslie are two different sounds to me and it would be hard for a pedal to do both well.

One thing about Chorus in general for me is what it does to the core tone. If it mucks with it in the wrong way I won't like it. If it colors it in a way I like I'll use it.

Yeah the rotary on the mobius is really cool - one of my favorites of all the effects on the mobius. But the vibe.....ehh. Thats a tough one to digitally recreate.

Diamond makes a pedal called the Halo Chorus. It has a phaser and a chorus within. You can run the chorus, phaser, or both together. It can get very vibey - one of my favorite single pedals of all time.

I also liked what I think was their ADA Flanger on the Mobius. Sounds more like a chorus and was perfect for Pat Travers/Pat Thrall tone.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I also think I need a solid analog chorus that has some options for a bit more warble or "vibe" type response. Right now I use my BOSS Super Chorus CH-1 to give me just a bit more oomph and space but it def. is on the more sterile side. The Phase 90 script does a decent warble at 1 O'clock on the dial but I would love a level control to back that off as well. Not have it as prominent. (maybe mod it?)

Also some very welcome canadian suggestions here, I always forget about our builders because there are so many competing products in the same space, i assume most companies are american. I will look at the halo.

For that exapanded detuned lead effect, nothing beats the Rockman Stereo Chorus. Nothing! Place a ADA Flanger and Dry Bell Vibe Machine in front, and you've got something.

I just spent some time listening to chorus pedal shoot outs and I have to say.. the CE-2, it just does so much of what I like. Has me considering pushing the wallet a bit and going for the waza to get the other two sounds as well. I also really like the MXR micro chorus though it doesn't do anything but chorus really and the MXR stereo chorus.

YMMV, I've owned dozens of boutique vibes and the Mobius vibe hung with all of them, blew me away actually

I think you'd like the Retro-Sonic Chorus. It's a CE-1 clone.

The RS Chorus, or the Rockman Stereo Chorus. You'll need to mount the Rockman under your board w/footswitch. The Rockman is basically an improved/modified/expanded CE-1. I've heard that there are key parts of the circuitry that Tom Scholz did not include with the sale of Rockman. Makes sense, as the only Rockman inspired device that MXR has released, is the Smart Gate. The Smart Gate pedal is not an exact copy of the original, so there you go. I believe this came from Tom's lead designer; who now works for Dunlop.
