Hi,

I'm looking for a closed back 2x12 Guitar Cab for my Egnater Mod50 head (I'm currently using the Bassman and MHG modules and I will receive soon the Vox, T/D and SL2 modules).
I need high gain and a good clean.
What do you guys recommend? And which speakers do you recommend?

A dealer advised me to buy the Century Vintage/Classic Lead Celestion speakers. What do you think ?

I mainly play funk and rock music (Prince, Muse, Joe Satriani, Metalllica, Guns'n Roses, Infectious Grooves, Van Halen...)

Thanks

I've heard nothing but good things about the Tourmaster 2x12 cabs with the Egnater Elite 80s. Basically, they're Classic Lead 80s with slightly more low end.

Maybe get one of those, and then try different combos. Eric here LOVES the Elite 80 paired up with a Vintage 30. Best of both words kind of combo cab.

I guess "best" is all relative,I love the GT1275 and Elite 80 combo, and I really like the private jack governor combo in my 412s.

Finding the right speakers is definitely a matter of personal taste, but
I suspect it's also difficult for everyone to agree because of all of the
modules.

I would venture to say most of us who have the modules would like
to have the most authentic sound of the amplifier the module represents.

SL/SL2: Greenback - type speaker is probably best choice.
VX: Celestion Blue - ditto.
T/D and COD: Jensens/Fendery speakers probably best.
ERECT: Vintage 30 types or Celestion C80s/Mesa C90s.

So, unless you want to have a roomful of cabs with these speakers, it's impossible to
select the one or two that are the best.

That's why I think it would be interesting for someone to make a 4x12 capable of holding
up to four different types of speakers so that it's almost like having four 1x12s all in one cabinet. You'd be able to switch from one desired speaker to all four within the cabinet on the fly so you could have the Vox with the Blue, SL with the Greenback, etc.

I'm sure it'd be expensive, but it'd be cool!

TM212 with GT1275 and Elite 80 combo. i play everything and it just works.

no, he doesn't.

He loves the 75/80 combo.

I do too!!!

Vintage 30 is the suck, IMO, unless it's paired with something really modern and scoopy. (Framus, Diezel, Recto, etc.)
