I've had an Aldrich in my Les Paul for several years and have recently become intrigued by the Bare Knuckle Crawlers. Can anyone compare these two pickups? What can I expect to hear differently if I switched to the Crawlers?

The Crawler is one of my favorite BK bridge pickups. With that being said I wouldn't put it in a Les Paul unless the particular guitar is a bit bright/thin ...... The Crawler is a fat and dark sounding pickup. It really depends on the natural tone of the instrument. Ive tried it in several guitars of different wood combinations. Best applications so far have been bolt on maple neck guitars with Alder and Swamp Ash bodies.

I actually just recently swaped an Aldrich for the Crawler in one of my guitars :

Compared to the Aldrich the Crawler would be a little thicker , less compressed and have better clarity. It would be less output but still have enough for any style of music. I play hard rock and metal , the Crawler works great for that in the right guitar.

For a Les Paul I would recommend the Ceramic Nailbomb , In a thick sounding mahogany guitar this pickup works amazingly well and sounds killer. The Rebel Yell isn't a bad choice either. I guess the question is what does your guitar sound like ?

I would try a Wolfetone Marshallhead in a Les Paul over the Crawler which I have used in a Les Paul Custom
