Hi everybody,

Anyone has some intel about the bkp black hawk with the vh4, please? How does it match up? I play metal, mostly rythm with lot of palmmuting and 2 note powerchords, tuning is D#. According to bkp DK resistance is only about 8-9...
Thank you for your info. GR

Hello there,

I cannot say anything about the black hawks because I never tried them but I have BK cold sweat and VH II and my co guitarist a set of aftermaths and I think the ones who sound best with the vh4 are the cold sweat.

Hope it helps a bit

Hi Andreli
you can be sure that Black Hawks fits to VH4 .. they are amasing picups! My co guitar player has them on two guitars and they'll be on my new one (it's in progress).

Nice! I expect them to be very sensitive to pu-height...

I do play metal with the cold sweat, indeed I have it in my 8 strings RG2228, also I have a coil split for it and it sounds really good too

I have one RG2077XL equipped with Black Hawks and another with Lundgren M7 and DiMarzio Air Norton - Both tuned to ADGCFAD. In addition I have RG2228 with Black Dogs. All work excellend with VH4 and Herbert, but definitely have different flavour in the tone.

So when comparing these two 2077XL's:
- Black Hawks are bright (highs go really high), they are not that high output, but veeeeery sensitive and defintely do not lack on bass department. They record really nice and esp. the neck pickup is amazing for distorted leadwork. Very good balance between all 7 strings and nice articulation on chords.
- M7 is more warm, but also more muddy (not at all muddy, but to compare). Hotter and rather terrible for clean due to breaking up easily. More body in the sound and way less brittle so sounds fuller for single note/string riffing.

Feel free to throw questions if you want. Normally I could easily record clips, but Im moving at the moment so my stuff is laying around in boxes.

I just compared my cold sweat with my other guitarist's RG2228 with aftermath, and I didn't like the aftermaths in the VH4, too muddy
