Bad combo or what? I'm thinking of getting a hot set of pickups to try out and am looking at warpigs. Now the Roadster is a tad dark so would putting Warpigs in a Gibson Les Paul darken things up too much? I do love a good smooth doomy crunch but am wondering if this will take it overboard.

Personally, I think it would be a bit too ott. Although, it may work for you, and i've heard of some people who love Warpigs in Lps. It could help if you gave us a better idea of what you're looking for. A lot of people love the Coldsweats in Les Pauls, they balance out a dark guitar. If you do want something really hot, and thick, a Painkiller could probably sound huge in a thick slab of mahogany as well.

Sounds too dark on paper, but there's only one way to find out!

Something has to change.

Strat > Warpig > Roadster is good
Les Paul > Duncan Custom > Roadster is good.
Les Paul > Warpig > Marshall or Orange head is good.

If you want doom sounds though it sounds like you are using the wrong amp in my opinion, you won't get there by swapping pickups. Try to find a used Marshall Super Lead or JCM 800 for that.

If you want a sludgy/stoner doom tone, then get a Green Amp.

To tell you the truth I can pull of some doomy sounds playing with my guitar's tone knows and the amp settings. What I meant is that as I do love a smooth doomy crunch, It is not exactly what I'm looking for. Really what I'm looking for is versatility, with the Roadster I've got four channels to set up how I wish and can make them each sound pretty much exactly how I want them(except channel 2, I had to modify that to get the most out of it). Really, I'm just looking for an excuse to take my guitar out to the shop and drink beer.
What I should have asked is what kinds of tones are people getting with a similar setup or what type of BKP's should I get to offer the most tonal versatility with my setup. My problem is I love tonnes of different sounds, so I don't want to be limited by the pickups I choose.
Right now I'm loving my Godwood in the bridge and Icebucker in the neck position. That is for low output, however and I never really have had a set of high output passive pups to play around with so really I want to know which way to go with high output buckers. I should probably leave well enough alone but you guys know how it goes.....
