Hey guys

i currently play a blackmore which i love but am just looking for a bit 'more'
Would like a bit more aggressive sound i guess. The blackmore is very clean, a tad more grind would be nice.

How does the SE rate in your opinion compared to the blackmore, obviously it has more features but what are the differences in sound.

cheers

AmpliFIRE should get in here and answer this question. I have his SE now and he had a Blackmore at the same time I think for a few days

Completely different beasts.

If I'm not mistaken, you have JJ6L6's in your Blackmore. Although I did like what the JJ's did to the low end and the "thump", they definately took away the aggression of the stock 5881's. I would suggest something like trying out the new Tung-Sol Reissue 5881's before you get rid of an amp that you like. Or maybe even some different 6L6's. The JJ's are very open sounding IMO and lack that aggressive crunch.

don't get me wrong here, i love the BM, just wondering if i'm missing out on something much better

i hated the stock sovtek 5881's that came with it, sounded cardboard like and shrill.
Not sure if all 5881's are like that.

i seem to go up and down with my blackmore, somedays it's the best amp i've ever played.. others i just don't get along with it..

sure everyone knows what that's like :D

Shameless plug. I'm selling my SE w/ el34s. It's in the classified section. It's a killer amp. I'm only selling it because I really only use channel 4 so I'm using the $ to pay for an Fireball and a Splawn Nitro.

The SE EL34 is like the powerball with more and thicker gain (3d sound) and more mids. It has every bell and whistle imaginiable. I've always wanted to try a blackmore though. I love the blackmore clips.

Haha same here. I went thru 2 savages, a powerball, and an SE before I realized that. A fireball and nitro would sound killer.

I actually love it but it is really more than I need and the Nitro gas was too much to control. I believe I bought your powerball from you on ebay. I wasn't a real big fan of it at the time but I have since played another powerball and liked it more.

so I'm giving you gas over at HRI...

haha yep!!

i'm wondering though, if the actual sound qaulity is similar and the SE just has way more features... then i'm probably better off with a BM because i would never use them.

then again, some of the clips of the SE EL34 on youtube sound insane.

have you played a blackmore?

it's more savage than blackmore in terms of sound, combined with a powerball, in a EL34 sauce...
