So Mr UPS Man delievered my Blackstar HT-5 Today.

Brief Review:

First the shortcomings:

Footswitch is WAY to short, it barely reaches the ground if the amp is up high. Though I am sure an extension will work.

Clean channel is pretty sterile with little headroom. But I didn't buy this for the clean channel. Overall the amp feels just a tiny bit stiff, I have a feeling a tube change will relieve this very easily.

Now the Good:

This little amp ROCKS!! I love the drive channel. honestly, this sounds better then most amps I have owned that I paid 4-5 times more for. More then enough gain. I have it only up a few notches and it rips. And responds well to volume control on Guitar! I am really pleased with the sound. Sounds like a crankin amp at a very reasonable volume. It gets loud enough for home use for sure, probally the IDEAL recording solution. I think it could hang in a band situation if you are far enough away from a drummer and have a good projecting cab. The amp feels just a tad stiff, but I am sure a tube change will solve this easily. If the pre tube is what I think, they always are a little stiff and less 3-D to me.

Honestly, this is probally the best guitar purchase in a long time. A small, portable solution and a great recording solution. Very happy with the drive. I liked the british side of the isp more, it had a creamier mid.

Here is a quick clip I tried to whip together to show a little of this amp. I did this REAL quick so please don't mind lack of solid structure and wanking and mistakes.. There is no bass guitar in this clip either. Rough mix, but hopefully will give an idea of the amp.

Oh it also has a direct out, that mutes the output. So you can do silent recording. Here is a quick clip using just the direct out, on the 1x12 speaker output. Sounds as good as a palmer IMO, which ends up being slightly mushy in the chugga's, but man, 300 bucks for all of this.

Thanks. I tried to include different sounds just using the volume knob on z guitar, lighter rythm, chugga, and borderline annoying leads.
