Hi Bruce, I'd like to know if you're planning on developing a class A "blues" amp with the most beautiful clean and break up OD you can ever make?

you seem to cover a lot of ground with your amps. I know you can get that with a modular series amp, but how about a production model?

something like a Fender Deluxe or a Two rock, etc etc..... (maybe not as expensive)

Wouldn't maybe the Rebel 30 cover this ground? Just curious...

the rebel 30 has "too much gain" if you know what I mean.

I'm talking a class A amp

Yeah, the first two channels of the Tourmaster will get what you are talking about (I think) but that is a much bigger package... Maybe a two channel 5 or 10 watt Tweaker?

If the new modular line makes a small head that can still hold 2 modules (like the Randall RM22), that'd be the perfect solution for you. And something I would add on to my collection  (I figure if i say it enough times, maybe it will one day come true :) )

If the new mod series becomes cheaper and/or you can spring for one, I'd really suggest going that route. You get a two channel amp (really 4) that is your perfect channel amp. Or maybe adding a E2 whenever those become available.

I've actually never messed with pedals, but maybe a pedal could get you there? What do you currently use?

I'm thinking the new Tweaker 40 would cover that ground really well. The new two channel Tweakers will be more what you are asking for. I'm really looking forward to these.

yeah exactly. a small RM22 kinda Egnater. with a T/D or D/D module and a COD....THAT would be a "blues/pop" amp.

I have a Renegade and the clean channel is pure sex.... very very vintage! but the OD channel is not my thing that much. I dont use much gain and even with the gain turned low it still has that mediumn hi gain amp mushness (medium-hi gainers are meant to be played with some gain on tap to sound creamy, when you turn the gain low it sounds mushy if that makes any sense)

I recently played a two rock amp and the gain channel was pure blues sex..... it had gain but it was more like a pushes hard clean channel with a TS9 kicked in

This might be a bit impractical, but you could use the egnater mods in the randall heads, but you cannot use the second channel. Some of those still have a volume boost you can use though. Or you can just try finding randall modules that work.

Maybe a god OD pedal is what you're looking for?

Amen to that brother. I did a review of a Two Rock CR signature for and online mag and it was unbelievable playing through and recording with that amp...Had the amp for about a month and wanted to cry went I had to send it back. They're ridiculously expensive, but well worth it...

HOw about a used MOD 50 and put JJ 6V6s in it, run in low power mode with a DLX and BMAN or COD modules. That would about do it.

This is essentially what I'm doing. Works well.

Really, if you had a BMAN and a Tube Screamer, you could probably cover most of the blues territory you are looking for. If the BMAN clean isn't the "Fender" clean you are looking for, then a T/D and a Tube Screamer would be another way to go and would get you there.

MOD50s used are ridiculously cheap these days (comparatively speaking). If you think a combination of two modules would get you exactly where you need to be, I'd definitely go that route. Plus, once you do, you have seemingly unlimited options to explore outside of your core sought after tone.

Personally, I use SL channel A for my blues tone. It gets me the early Stones/Hendrix/Clapton tones easily and driving it with a TS will cover any amount of gain that I'd need out of a module for blues stuff. It's doesn't give you a completely "clean" tone, but I'm more of a "Marshall Clean" kind of guy anyway.

I've gone that route too. The SL is an incredible module. Wish I had not sold mine.

I'm sure the Mod50 would be a fantastic blues amp.

but I was thinking more about a small chasis class A head with two modules. 30 watts maybe.

Reverb
power scale
6l6

that'd be great

I'm telling you just wait for the Tweaker 40. I believe it will be perfect for that. Add a Screamer and a Zen Drive in your case.

won't the tweaker 40 have too much gain? how the clean on the tweaker? is it "fender" like the Renegade?

From what I hear it's really great, kinda the reason I think it might work. From what I understand they are not really high gain they are more mid gain to clean I think. Which means if you get two channels you can set it up to do it's thing, clean, pedals for gain and then channel two for just the same with slightly more gain and volume. Sounds like it'll work.

If not it's a Nolatone for me, of course I will keep the MOD50 as my main amp.
