Bogner 20th Shiva vs. Mesa Electra Dyne?

I took my 20th Shiva to G Center this evening after the gym. I though the Shiva sounded better. More complex, 3-D and refined.

I have only gotten to play the Electra Dyne at guitar center, and like most times in the beginning they did not have it plugged into a speaker. So it may have had issues, but I did not see any comparison to the Shiva or other Bogners. It had a hollow kind of mid tone to it, that I could not dial out, not nearly as pleasing as a Shiva ymmv....

I think I agree. You get what you pay for, the 20th Shiva is a step up in tone, quality and feel from the Electra Dyne.
I found the Royal Atlantic comparable, but Bogner wins!!!! Only new Mesa's I place in the Bogner camp are the Mark V, Royal Atlantic and the new Dual Rec.

I am not being fair. The Electra Dyne and Royal Atlantic are great amps!

You know I don't agree after owning both. I liked the feel of the Ed over the 20th. I still found myself always boosting the 20th and the Ed has more bottom end going on. Of course I boost the snot out of the Ed but with a pedal like the XTC red it's a fire breather. I think both amps are great and it's just a matter of taste really but after a while I wasn't playing the 20th much. But if you re able to crank up an Ed there's really not much of a step up from that. Well, put it this way, a great player will sound great on either amp, but you can get a used Ed for less than 1k these days..

I would agree on the price comparison, the value is on the Ed no matter what. The other is like you said, depends on the player and their tastes, etc.... Main thing is you got an amp that works well for you, that is actually all that really matters.

I like the Ed much better than the Mark V, personally I disliked the Mark V greatly, but a lot of guys love it. I did not think it captured the tones it was meant to, it reminded me a lot of the Triaxis I used to own, but I liked the Triaxes better,  But if the Mark V is working for guys again, that is all that matters in the end.

I was able to get a hold of my buddy's ED again last night. I did a headto head with the 20th Shiva and EL34s and man I was able to get them almost sounding identical! My Shiva takes pedals just as well, so I no longer think I need a Mesa ED or Royal. LOL!

What cab are you playing your 20th on? I remember I had a Mesa 4x12 at the time. Of course now I'd like to try the 20th again on a Bogner cab.....
