The amp is harder to dial in than the 101b, somewhat like the original 100b, but it does reward the effort.

I was really digging this tone yesterday with my old Strat - a bit in the Eric Johnson vein:

The circuit is 100% 100b, it's not a modern 101b. The 35 watt is a modern 101b

It needs more volume than the 101b as well, but sounds really great when you open it up a bit.

What are your thoughts on the new switches added , looks like they have added 3 gain settings on the Red so it can do the Classic, 101b stock and hotter likely the Gain mod on the 101b?

Great tone and really great playing. You are grabbing lots of really unique and great sounding intervals that I don't hear that often.

Most likely the case. The PCB for these amps is all the same with multiple value options. There are plenty of empty component slots for additional tweaks. So, he most Lilley decided to give everyone the choose of voicing verses buying a particular voiced amp.

The original 35watt was the 101b higher gain red channel circuit. The 50w version was the classically voiced 100b. And it looks like the newer 50w will give you all the options.

The older versions can easily be converted by pulling and adding components to the PCB
