I have a Fish incoming I am going to use to mix with my Diezel Herbert. I will run the Diezel dry and the Fish wet with a Mesa Power amp. I will be able to use just Bogner, just Diezel or mix the 2 in stereo with 2 Mesa 4x12 traditionals with V30s. I am pretty pumped about getting it. I have had a Bogner 101b and a XTC Classic and both were great amps, among the best I have played.

Wondered how do you compare your Herbert to the XTC`s you owned?

What Mesa power amp are using ? I am sure this rig well be amazing.

Herbert and XTC are both great amps. I love Bogners and this is my first Diezel and I can see what the hype is about. The Herbert gets a lot more modern and Channel 3 is similar to feel of the red channel on the XTC. The herbert does not have a sweet sounding woody blue channel like the XTC does, but the XTC does not bring the pain like the Herbert does.

I think the Herbert has a better clean channel, XTC has a better blue channel and Herbert has the better Red (channel 3).

I doubt any of that makes much sense eh?

I got a 3 month old Mesa 2:50:2 running EL34's to run with it. The guy is also sending the original 6L6's it came with. He dumped his rack for a head and I got a great deal on an almost new one.

I was going to go 2:90:2 as I have had one in the past and it always sounded good, the deep and modern was cool. But my use for the fish is going for as much of a Marshall feel I can, with using it for wet with the Diezel so I think the EL34 2:50:2 will be a great match.

Thanks for the rig compliment. I will post some clips after I get everything finalized. I am going to get a Zoom Q3 next week to run through both rigs separate, then blended, etc.... Give everyone an idea of clean channel, channel two and channel 3 on both of them.

Thanks again!

That sounds killer .... looking forward to the video.

:( :( you should have gotten the 2:90. :( :(

That was definitely my initial thoughts. I got this for a really great deal so if it does not work out I will turn it most likely for a profit and get a 2:90.

Out of curiosity have you tried the 2:50:2 with EL34's? I have not, so if you have I was wondering why you like the 2:90 better overall? I have had 2:90's in the past and they are great, which is why I was originally going for one until this fell into my lap.

Input is appreciated.

Thanks!

PM'ed.

**bottom line**

I owned a 2:fifty.

and........IMO

I vastly prefer bigger, punchier power sections.

YMMV
