Bogner Helios Eclipse

The Helios is a great amp, kinda Bogner's take on a Marshall plexi. superlead with a loop and modern conveniences and just touch of that Bogner tone. I think the Count's clip shows it well, you should be quite happy with it. :2thumbsup:

You can tell when Euge likes an amp because he really get's into his playing and not phoning it in.

Thanks. I was looking at hot rodded Marshalls that aren't modern high gain, such as Splawn Quickrod, the Helios wasn't enough, but the Helios Eclipse takes it further IMO, should cover what I want from it, and different enough from what I have including my Engl Artist Edition.

Euge's demo sealed the deal

I have the standard edition Helios and really dig it. It’s 80% pexi modded for high preamp gain and 20% Bogner response and chew. The Eclipse is basically that plus a mode or two of even higher gain.

They’re very cool amps.

I think the Eclipse addressed all the issues that people bitched about the Helios MK 1 models. It should do what you want, I think you made a good choice, the Bogner still has some of that raw plexi/SL to it. The Friedman smallbox is good but alot of people think Dave's BE100 circuit is too smooth, like 80's smooth, you either like it or hate it....:dunno:

The Splawn quickrod is uber tight even with minimum gain, that's just the way that circuit is, even with plexi amounts of gain it still feels and sounds gain modded.

At least my Splawn Modded 79 2203 does, and the Quickrod's are essentially the same circuit. It sounds great but not exactly like my 68 plexi or my 72 Superlead.
