Hi,
This is my first post here in Rig-Talk even though I registered 3 years ago. Anyways, I just bought a used Bogner Metropolis, it's a very early model since it has an x and y inputs, and the amp arrived perfectly. Sounds phenominal. I had the seller ship the amp without a speaker since I'm in Hawaii and the amp would be cheaper to ship without it. Besides, I had a near new Vintage 30 so I hooked it up, but it needed to be soldered, which I thought I did perfectly.
However, While I was playing one day, the amp went silent. To my horror, the speaker wires were completely off the speaker terminals. Luckily, I had the amp hooked up to a attenuator. After kicking myself, I hooked the speaker wires up so that a nuclear strike wouldn't take them off. I plugged everything back up, but noticed the reverb was very faint. Also in the background, I heard the reverb springs "rumbling" like they were shaking intermittantly. I have to turn the reverb all the way up and have the gain all the way up to get any reverb now.
I guess my question is two fold. When the speaker wires came off the terminal, did the attenuator protect the amp since the speaker wire was still plugged into the attenuator?
What effect would the speaker wire falling off the speaker have on the amps reverb?
I changed all the tubes and tried the amp without the attenuator but same result. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry for such a long winded first post.
