The studio I've been recording at with my band Mr Personality is owned by a friend of mine. He bought a Rivera Rock Crusher last week and a new Telefunken vocal mic. He was dying to try it out so I brought some members from my last band over.

I was playing a lp custom w stock 57 classics into my 20th Shiva. Low gain mode, brights off, gain at 1 o'clock. Pre Vol's at 1 o'clock, master at 2. These are the settings I use live. No effects in front.

After some tinkering around we set up the RC to sound like a Celestion Creamback and then dialed up the highs just a touch. I tried the Alnico blue and T75 settings also but didn't care for either enough to even try to tweak to taste.

So here's what we recorded. Keep in mind that this was just for fun so it's all one take and we haven't played this song in almost 2 years. The solo sucks and the bass was played by me so,,,,yeah, I'm not a bass player.

I am pretty exited about the recorded guitar tone. The verses could be less dark but the chorus' and solo tone are pretty f'n decent. With some tweaking I think this piece of gear may be my new best friend in the studio. The vocal mic was quite impressive also.
