Bogner Shiva Van halen 1 sound(first album tone)

Can the Bogner Shiva(not the anniversary model) achieve the van halen 1 sound(first album tone),does the Shiva have enough gain-aggressiveness to achieve that tone.

My answer is not the definitive one, but all Bogners in general do not really have that snarling, upper mid kerrang like Marshalls do. Bogners are smooth and creamy in the upper mid zone whereas Marshalls are sharp and stinging.

Too smooth for a convincing VH tone IMO.

I say, with the right speakers...you can get pretty close. When I plug my EL34 Shiva Reverb into my Marshall 425 cab (has the Celestion G12C greenbacks), I am in the VH ballpark.

I tried the Bogner Shiva and it lacked the gain and aggressiveness thats on Van halen 1(first album),Ive been using the VHT/Fryette Deliverance D60H head(great amp) and it achieves the Van halen 1 sound almost spot on,im also using a older VHT 4x12 cab loaded with celestion 25 watt greenback speakers.VHT/fryette Deliverance amp is just amazing for THAT sound.I changed out the KT88 tubes for 6550 tubes and it worked out very well.

There are amps better suited for that tone. I have a Shiva 20th and it is just a great sounding head. Escellent! If you want VH1 you need a Marshall or a Marshall copy with some sort of gain mod. Preferably a modded Plexi.

Ive owned many marshall plexis from the late 60s,70s superleads modded and stock,owned many of the boutique amps that are out there and none of them came close to THAT sound until I tried the VHT/Fryette deliverance D60H head,the power section of the deliverance or for that matter VHT/Fryette amps in general are not like any of the boutique amps that are out there,but it does remind me of the power section of my older marshall plexis from the late 60s.The power section of the deliverance are very stong and push the sound very hard if you know what I mean,im very happy with the deliverance,I own two now and they wont be going any were thats for sure.(wont be selling these).
