Yes, it sounds richer and has none of the glassy, hardness of 88's. The 1st channel of the TJ rocks, too. It's been awhile since I've played a Rev. Blue, but from what I can remember the TJ has more clarity and ability to cut, more open, while always sounding very 3D...you get that thick swirl and more saturation with the EL34 Twin Jet.

Thank you for the reply. Getting that rev blue tone plus a modded marshall on the first channel would be a dream. The only think i'm hearing is that the twin jet fx loop is needs work as i'll be useing an eventide orville with it also do you feel it's a pretty easy amp to play for leads as i'm recornding right now and my style is very zappa/vai like.

Thanks again

I've had both and would take the TJ with the clean taper mod on Ch.1 any day over the Rev.Blue

The TJ's gotta grind that the Rev.Blue just couldn't dole out as well... IMHO of course. And ya, 88's if that's a new TJ.

Nice demo! My Rev. Blue has been set up for 6550C tubes. Kind of gives you a cross between the two amps. I seems to me to have added some tightness while still retaining a darker sound :D

Bogner Uberschall + Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer = Pure awesome. Just bought my TS9 a few days ago, it really, really tightens the amp a lot and makes it much more sensitive (a good thing for a light picker like me) while taking a lot of the low end flub out. This is the absolutely perfect rig for metal IMO. You have the richness of EL34's and pure clarity, even with the pedal out in front. Arpeggios and fast runs come pouring out of this thing, and the pedal makes it a much more viable amp for leads. I'd put my Rev Blue with the Tube Screamer and JJ34L/Gold Lion KT77's up against anything. The Rev Blue has those rich mids that the KT88-equipped Twin Jet doesn't. I'd love to try an EL34-equipped Twin Jet. I've heard they're killer.

Did you get some of the Gold Lions?

Nah, I can't afford them at the moment :( Such is the life of a broke college student, soon to become a broke graduate student. Who knows, maybe 6 years from now... :p
