Bogner XTC 20th anniversary EL 34/6l6 comparaison video

Hi!

First post with a video of my new Bogner XTC EL34 20th anniversary!
I'm a huge fan of Bogner!
I have had a lot of Bogner amps but I still have a Uber Twin Jet and two XTC 20th (EL34 and 6l6).
This one is the EL34 model !
I'll post others vids with the 6l6 model too...
In comparaison both amps are different...
First I bought the 6l6 model and was very happy with it but I would like to play the EL34 model!
So I bought an other one with these tubes
Differences are:
- 6l6 model is more modern, less grainy, less middy, more bass, more highs, a little more versatile and agressive...
- EL34 model is more a classic sound, Bogner sound with better mids, a little harder to play, funnier to play ...
I'll keep both but like a lot of people I think that the EL34 is better, it sounds so good with a better blue and red channel (more classic rock) and plexi is wonderful too...
Clean sound is not better on the 6l6 model, just different with less mids... The amp sounds a little flat with 6l6 but have more gain for sure (but too much bass sometimes).
If I have to choose over two models I'll take the EL34 for sure...

I have uploaded a second video but with the 6l6 model this time!
Same recording chain (Tyler+4x12 Bogner greenbacks)
I think it will be a little bit useful to compare both amps!
My feeling is that amps are more different than I thought...
The difference is bigger in the room when I'm playing them!
The 6l6 is cleaner, clean is more "fender" with a wider spectrum range!
A little more aggressive, modern, in your face, bigger...
The EL34 is a little bit stiff in comparaison but you have to beat a little more with the amp which I like

I'll keep both amps because they compliment each other very well and I'll try them in stereo soon...
But at this time there is no better or worse amp ...
Just a matter of taste !

Both sound great. Now you need a KT77 loaded Ecstasy.

This swap-up was the mega clincher for me... I was in awe of the EL34 head, then, when I was swayed to get the GoldLion77s in there, everything changed - for the better. It's a winning amp - period. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but definitely mine.

Killer. Currently rocking the 6L6 version and it's amazing - you simply cannot go wrong with either. To my ears, the 6L6 has less midrange grind but more gain and a sweeter clean.

After playing both extensively, I like the KT88's better in the TJ. Might want to try GL KT77's.
