had a bogner uber twin jet and have a real early bogner straight 4x12 w/ english v30s I have been thinking about an XTC but I came across this video I was really impressed with how well the 5150 stacked up its never really caught my eye as an amp but for the money I would save it might be worth it or is it just my shitty speakers any opinions?

I owned both a 5153 and a 100B XTC at the same time for about a year. When I first demoed the 5153 I thought it was a great cheap XTC, as time when on I could not stand the tone of the 5153, it just sounded harsh and grated my ears. I sold the 5153 and still own the XTC.
If you can live with the 5153 go for it but it just may leave you thinking, "I wonder if the XTC sounds better"!

yea your probably right man I tend to do that with everything damn gass thanks for the reply guess I'm gonna just have to save up the funds and get rid of my mark v head and see what the xtc is all about or I will never stop wondering

I have had both and still have the xtc. I think in the clips, the 5150 sounds great. I think its hard to really hear the difference on video. In person, the clean channels are a lot different, the blue and red are closer in tone but the feel of the amps are totally different. The feel of the bogner is just better for me (love it) easier to play. You should be able to find a 5150 in the store? Play one, if you love it, buy it and forget about the bogner. If its not for you, then its gonna cost you, bogners are more money.
I'd buy used for either and save a ton of cash.

Funny, I had a similar experience. I still think it's a cool amp, and I like the feel and recorded tones, but there is something about the voicing that really started to grate on my ears over time. I think it only bothers certain people, like how ginger tastes like soap to some people. It reminds me of g12t75. I like the recorded tones, and used them for quite a while before changing, but there is something in the upper freq range that started to bug me in the room. I have friends who love them though, so it seems to be only my problem. Never felt that way about the xtc though, very organic sounding gain, especially for the amount it has.

Yes the GT12t75 is a good comparison. The XTC in sounds refined, 3D and smooth, it snarls like a Marshall but in a sophisticated manner. The 5153 sounds cheap to my ears.
