Episode 12: Boss FRV-1 Fender '63 Reverb
Reverb is one of those effects that I tend to shy away from with electric guitar. There are lots of great guitarists that use reverb, but I never really felt comfortable using it myself. I was always more of a delay guy. This has somewhat changed since I tried the Fender FRV-1 Reverb.
From what I understand, this is basically a Fender tube spring reverb in a pedal, and boy does it sound cool! I was pretty taken aback when I first tried it out. It sounds like I have a Fender reverb tank attached to my Marshall. It's very very cool!
With everything @ 12:00, it can be a little on the bright side, so I recommend setting the tone @ 9:00 or so to smooth things out a bit. I definitely plan to use this in the studio for the next Atma Weapon album. I'm not sure where it will end up, but it will be on something.
Overall, this is a great pedal. It does what it says it does, and I highly recommend it!
