Boss GE7 causes hum in loop when master volume turned up

I noticed that my Friedman BE50 was humming super loud when I turned up the master volume (effects loop) to 3 pm. Once I removed the Boss EQ from the loop, the hum was gone. Just wondering why does the Boss EQ cause this huge hum and is there anything that can get rid of it? I'm using the same wall outlet for both the amp and the Boss pedal.
 
Same outlet? Check
Replace power adapter?

Thanks. Well, the power adaptor is one of those Friedman Power Grid 10 things. There should be no hum from that.

Dave recommends people put their master at 3 pm and then adjust the channel volumes from there. It makes the amp sound different, but I'm keeping mine at 9 AM right now because there's no hum and it sounds good. What's odd about my EQ pedal is that it doesn't light up really well, which makes me wonder if it's supposed to be 18v? I don't know.
 
I didn't know they made an 18v version :dunno:
I know pedals can be modded tho.
Maybe try a battery only
Can you experiment with plugging some other things into the Power Grid to test?
Clean all jacks in line with Dioxit
Test wall outlet
 
Some say GE-7 are known to be “noisy”. Bukavac and other great players seem to suggest annalogman modded GE-7 because they are quieter. I’ve never remembered having noise issues with my GE-7 though I haven’t plugged it in in years now.

As others have said, try a different power supply, and outlet.

9V center negative. Probably only requires minimal mA current also but check the power supply and BOSS if it’s not written on the pedal.
