I haven't seen too many options available on the local market. I think its because many people play clean genres. Anyway, the power/grounding here sucks and I need a noise gate of some sorts. My only 2 available options are the NF1 and NS2. I know there are some better options, but I want to get something used locally.

Thanks

I used an NF-1 for a number of years before I switched to a Decimator. The pedal works pretty well for what it is, but I'm sure a NS-2 is better.

I used an NS2 for years before trying the ISP stuff, and eventually sticking with a Zuul. The NS2 worked just fine for me. There's a bit of coloration, but nothing you can't address by tweaking your EQ. IIRC I needed to add back some of the highs.

i think they are all a necessary evil.. if its just ground hum or power noise just run it in the loop. im lucky as my mesas are pretty quiet but i use an ns2 in front as its a boosted recto...

I'm a little concerned how it will do for ground noise without neutering sustained notes and medium and lower gain modes.
Set up your normal sound . Set the noise gate up to where it’s fully quiet when you’re not playing . Then if you missing some gain or sustain add more gain and eq until your back at your tone . To me the gate does something special if you do it that way . Now if you like your tone with it on for rhythm but not lead . Then just keep it on for rhythm and turn it off for solos and your good .
