Hey all,

Got to play for several hours on another rig yesterday. They were using a Boss Rv 6. I see so many discussions and threads about how great this pedal is annnnddddd...... What are you smoking? This thing can't even come close to the Strymon I have tried. I spent way too much time just trying to dial in a decent tone. Why does the thing almost sound like it is a delay being used as a reverb or something? It's the way that it copies what you are playing. Doesn't feel like a natural, deep reverb at all. Definitely threw me HARD. I was expecting to dig it at least a little and just hated every second it was on. Something about what it does to my guitar tone.... Nah. Again, it was reminiscent of having like, a secondary short delay line or something always on as opposed to a nice, large sounding, disappating, reverb.

A couple of fender style amps through a 4x12. The Nightsky sounded absolutely massive, even with subtle settings. The Boss.... Not so much.

Edit: I need to add this because it is very important- this was not through the loop in my home setup, but through the front end of a vintage styled, hand wired clean amp. YMMV

I know this won't be a popular opinion but I don't like Boss products. I have owned two Boss products and both of them failed without much use. A DS-1 that lasted about a month before the switch broke (but but Boss is built like a tank. Bullshit.) and a BR-600 that lost most of a completed solo album. Boss is pedestrian consumer grade junk. And the stupid modeling amp they made is a piece of shit too.

I can't leave a Boss in the chain due to the buffers they use. I just can't stand what they do to my sound. Had some on my board for years. When I A/B with them in/out of the chain, it was always better for what I am seeking, even if they are off. I may use them for a purpose but they can't live in my signal path. I just see the RV-6 and the larger RV units hyped all to the heavens but every time I have used one it just sounds.... Crazy synthetic? IDK. Boss is not my cup of tea either. I definitely think they are sturdy for the most part and well priced, with decent sounds for people, so, I understand why they dominate that area of the market.

Hey, more pedals left for the Boss lovers out there! I thought maybe it was just me, but I spent more time than I wanted on the hall and Plate sounds trying to get something that sounded at least somewhat natural. Again, felt like a Delay pedal trying to be a reverb if that makes sense. No bueno.
