Bought it to try out that is :D I have to return it before my CC payments are due

The comparison is between my Gibson LP VM and this PRS. I love my Gibson especially with my new PUPs (Rio Grande BBQ, Dimarzio Paf Classic) so don't think it would be an easy competition. I bought it over many Standards and Classics I've tried.

Alright first I've played PRS -> Roadster -> Marshall 4x12 (G12T75's).
I never liked this cab. it has lots of treble and a bit ice picky. Cab is my cousin's guitarist and I use it just to play around. My real cab is 2x12 Avatar with CL80's. So the sound through Marshall was meeeh. Too trebly. Even more than my Gibson. With Gibson I kinda like it it's more balanced but it didn't work at all with the PRS. Both neck and bridge pups in PRS are a bit hotter and trebly than Gibson. So I was a bit disappointed...

Then I plugged my Gibson in Roadster-> Avatar. The sound was AMAZING as always. Then I decided I should try PRS through the same setup. HOLY SHIT! The most punchy, articulate but also very smooth sound I've heard in a loooooong while. Seriously, my tone has never been so good. After playing through that setup for a while I switched back to my Gibson. The sound was a bit muddier, more hallow (which I'll elaborate in a second), and not nearly as PUNCHY. Even the single tones can punch you in the chest with the PRS and it sounds WAY tighter! I love the sound with my Gibson but PRS just floored me with this setup.

I won't say much about playability. Just know that it's about 3984934893489384 million times better than my Gibby. lol. And the Gibby isn't that bad either! It's not as comfortable as Custom 22 or McCarty for sure but as I stated in my previous thread, I think it's just this particular guitar. It's still great but not AS great.

So I'm definitely SOLD on this guitar.

Some notes on Weight Relief in both guitars.
I think PRS did a WAY, WAY better job with the weight relief compared to Gibson. I love how my Gibby sounds but I gotta admit that after the PRS it sounded much more hallow. It weights A LOT less than the PRS too so that explains. PRS on the hand sounds SOLID. Definitely. I had a 85 LP Custom and PRS sounds as solid as that. I don't think weight relief on this guitar will be a big issue with people who generally hate relief.

Returning this beast will sure be a pain :) But knowing that I found MY guitar is priceless!! When it's time to buy, I'll definitely go with a 10 top or Artist package. Birds, hardware, the whooole deal. Cause I know I don't change guitars nearly as much as I change my main amps. And this PRS will definitely be with me for a looooooooooong time. Can't wait!!!

But what if you do not find one that sounds like this one?

Well I have no choice but to return it. I can't buy it right now. Best I can do is not be impatient and try as many as I can.

I LOVE my SC. It doesn't sound as fat as my LP, but I just turn the bass up a little. I can switch from the SC to a humbucker/floyd Strat to a standard strat without adjusting tone controls on the amp. I can't do that with the LP - it gets kinda muddy. My SC has a great hollow tone to it. The one one you have looks a lot prettier than mine, though.

I think you're defining the standard SC that's discontinued. SC245 and standard SC has VERY different tone. But yeah there's lots of love for standard SC's too it seems :)
I'm never going back to Gibson

PRS are pretty damn consistent. That's not to say there's not a shining star or a dud out there. Hopefully when GRK is ready to buy, there will be one that blows his doors off just like this one.

I could never buy a guitar or amp with the intent just to try it out...if I liked, there's NO way I could take it back!

+1 on all counts.

can you adjust the intonation with that bridge

Well the bridge is unadjustable. PRS says as long as you use up to 0.11, intonation will be perfect on these guitars because of the precise build of their guitars.

I have no clue about setting up a guitar and I don't know if there is any other way to set the intonation (other than adjustable bridge) so someone else can elaborate on this.

Btw, I emailed PRS about changing the 245 bridge to the one on like 250 and changing the 250 bridge to a 245 and they said this would be no problem and I could do it if I wanted to. So I guess if you order the adjustable bridge from PRS or through PRS dealers, you can set intonation on 245. I don't intend to do this however.

Man I definitely have a hard time even thinking of returning it but I just have to. I can't spend the money I don't have. But knowing I can buy one in 2 months (a much better one too with the full options) helps out a little :D
