Don't feel like hauling around my 85 pound Marshall 1960BX cab any longer so I picked up two Rebel 112x cabs from my guy at GC. At 31 pounds each, I seriously thought about bolting the two together to make a 62 pound vertical 2x12, but having the ability to split them up wide is great plus.
Tone wise, I'm very happy. I will say they sound considerably different when they're aimed at you, which is common for any cab, but these are drastically different. If you have them facing at your legs, then you're jacking up mids & highs from like 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock! Aim them up at you and your running mids & highs at say 10 oclockish. IOW, a big difference. Another reason I like them aiming at me is because I prefer to know what it sounds like at the mic, which is what I wish more guitar players would do. Too many guys aim their cabinets at their legs and then complain when the soundguy has a middy, trebly tone come out of the PA. Gee, I wonder why.
All in all, I'm very happy with them. Tone, construction, value, and weight are about as good as you're gonna get!
One thing I'm not happy with is the grill cloth on one of them is kinda tweaked. Not sure if this slipped by quality control at the factory, or if one of the GC guys accidentally mashed it in. Whatever the case, It doesn't really bother me because I'm pretty abusive on my cabs anyway.
One mod I'm definitely going to make is adding Speakon connectors. Not necessary, but I like the fact that they lock and you can't accidently plug them into something else.
Now that I've spent even more money on Egnater stuff, I really wish they would return my calls..
