Am I wrong or is there waaaaaay more substance to Watson's solo? Plus I like his guitar/tone better. :)

PS - Yes, both are wankfests no matter which way you slice it. lol...

Chris

Brad was definitely just trying to put on a show for the crowd in his solo.

Neither one did anything for me and I know they're both players then that...

I'm so thankful for Yngwie because he stopped most of that tapping stuff...

Man i didnt enjoy either of those solos, They just sounded boring to me!

Jake's solo on the other hand.... the guy can fuckin play his ass off AND he had rippin tone!!!

8 fingered tapping technique vs. frequent whammy bar integration.....

I think Brad's solo's on some choice Night Ranger songs are well written and quite memorable......don't remember as much Watson solos on the more well known NR tunes.

The type of "warbles" Gillis uses is very unnatural sounding to me. I'll take 8 fingered tapping.

You're just like Jake E Lee Chris, you shunned the whammy bar

I vividly remember Jakes white Superstrats with fixed bridges, when practically everyone else had Floyd's back then....

I thought they were both pretty terrible. In fact, watching those solos makes me so glad the 80's are long gone. No wonder people got tired of that crap. Making those stupid rock star faces while wanking away on stolen VH riffs... what pompous douchebags.

Other then that, they were great though!

Both kind of goofy I guess.

I have always liked Gillis' guitar, the red one. Was there ever a Brad Gillis sig guitar?

I think Watson did the studio solo on Goodbye. It was kinda memorable. I always like Watson more than Gillis, but neither were my favorite.

Jeff's tone was good, a lot less gain than I thought he used. Did he play Marshalls?

They both played Mesa Boogie Mark amps. They may have played Marshall's early in their career but I'm not sure when they switched to boogies.

Brad is the perfect example of how a whammy bar can just ruin a player IMHO. He sounds fine without using it and as soon as his playing starts to kick ass, he cheeses out and starts goofing off with the bar and it has no musical content at all. Just stupid noises. But, his playing on Speak Of The Devil IS KILLER.

Jeff is a killer player. Forget the Night Ranger stuff and pickup his solos album, it's pretty damm good. And they should rename is 4 finger tapping, not 8. Most of the time he used 4 fingers on those licks and not 8. In the You Can Still Rock In America, it's all 4 fingers. I watched his instructional video.

I like Jeff more than Brad, but like them both. But i like Jake and George much more than either of them as far as LA gunslingers are concerned.

Fernandes made one in the mid 80s, less than 100 (I think less than 50 even.) I have a prototype, and pics of Brad playing it... I bought it from his tech a few years back.

Here's a pic of mine

Oh, that's cool. What's up with the output jack...I've always wondered about that. Some type of preamp? Does that bridge not have fine tuners?

the original Floyd didnt have fine tuners...they were added later. i believe Brad still uses his original guitar, with the original no-tuner Floyd! talk about robust quality
