Brand new Stiletto Ace question for you Mesa guys.

I played a brand new one yesterday that they just got from NAMM. All orange tolex with the Stiletto 2X12 cab. It sounded so thick and rich like a Marshall should. Are these newly designed? The head looked like a Marshall head. I remember the Stiletto's as being ice pick with too much treble. No ice pick in this one at all. If they have dialed out the treble, I'll be forced to get one. Anyone know if these are different now? This one was sold, said build time for the new ones is 8-10 weeks.

Yeah, they changed the design about a year ago or so.

I had version 1 Trident head and version 2 Ace combo and the treble was still high. I had presence and treble down below 9 oclock and it still had a nasty trebly buzz on the Ace. Maybe the Stiletto you played is updated from version 2? It had alot of cool features but that killed it for me.

far as i know? the Ace hasn't ever been updated? allways thought that they just didn't put it out untill they'd revised the Dual and Trident?


anyways, i'd be willing to guess if the Namm one is sounding really good, then they probably took some time and got some better tubes in it?


the power tubes that came with my Trident were shrill assed garbage, plus all but one of the preamp tubes was a Sovtek. one of the guys who got an Ace recently said all the preamp tubes were Chinese, so that would mellow it out some right there.
