i saw mastodon last sunday, and guess what.
brent is playing his vh-4 mixed with his jcm 800 live again (exactly like me ;) , diezel and a jcm 800 is the best).

but the interesting part :

he used only channel 2, all the time.
im not sure if his distortion runs into both amps, the jcm 800 wont work without a distortion.

after 2 years playing my amp i realized too, that texas mode sounds the best to me(playing metal). is just have to boost it a bit.

Channel 2 is great! It just needs a little more gain.

I saw them a few months ago.
They are great live.

I saw an interview with both guitarists recently and they were saying they were trying to use less distortion live.

that sounds consequential.

it was exactly what i thought when i heard them !

saw them last friday, and yes - again VH4+JCM800, and i also noticed that the VH4 is always in Ch2!

for me, it sounded like its been boosted somehow, i mean: its been some time since i've played a VH4, but from what i remember CH2 didnt have that so much gain.

and i loved how he was turning toward the VH4 during a solo 2 times, always turning the beast louder and louder. :D

amazing concert by the way, i was blown away!
