For a musician looking for the best cleans available, which of your models would you recommend?

I'm after a Stevie Ray V./John Mayer/ cleans...... I have a renegade, and the cleans are AMAZING, but I wonder is maybe the Rebel 30 or the Tweaker have better cleans.....

what's your opinion? I'm not talking about headroom btw....just overall clean tone and feeling.

Man, I wish i could remember what model my buddy has.. sounds so good!

get a tourmaster with an "M" in the beginning of the serial #, to denote it has factory mods and an upgraded power transformer. you can probably find one used under 600 bux.

turn up clean channel 2 to 2pm on the dial, gain on 11-1pm (pickup specific of course), power grid on half power, 50 watts.... and you'll thank me later.

my plan is to get another tourmaster (v2 of course) after the new tourmaster comes out and the prices really drop.

a modular egnater/ randall with a Salvation Salvado Deluxe, JF ODS, Egnater COD, Salvation MatchVox mts mods.

thank you guys. I love my Renegade's clean channel btw, Nothing I'd change about it, just curious.

I'll prob. get a Rebel 30 head+cab for the portability.

Sorry but I gotta say blackface Fender Twin Reverb.

True, not much that can compete with TR, it is the king of clean.

As far as Egnater amps, the Tweaker 40 has better cleans than the Rebels IMO. I chose the Twkr 40 after trying both Rebels and the Twkr 15. All fine amps, but to me the 40 is much cleaner and louder, and has great distortion also (two channels). :)

A higher wattage amp will usually have more headroom so the cleans would be better. I liked the Rebel 20 better than the 30. It just worked out better for the style of music I play. My SF Twin at 100 watts was the king of clean.

Obviously, it depends on your definition if "better clean".
For instance, the Roland Jazz chorus has one the the cleanest cleans ever, but I don;t love it.

I do however own a Rebel 30 and a Renegade. I have to vote for the Rebel - it's probably the best clean channel on any amp I ever owned. The Renegade is great too, just not as much to my liking. I would characterize the Renegade as being more "Bassman" and the Rebel, as more "Deluxe".

I love the Rebel clean with a low gain OD in front for cleans, personally.
