Bruce, as we've all witnessed time and time again, just about the time we think every tone imaginable has been invented on the tried and true preamp design, here comes the next evolution of tone that sends everyone cashing in their old gear to get into the "new" stuff.

Why not host a Module Builders class with an emphasis on pushing the design beyond today's "standards"

The MTS and Egnater heads are the canvas, (and always will be) but its the color (tone) comes from the modules.

Make it happen and I'm there!

I think it would be cool. But Bruce would also have to teach us how to use the program that designs the PCB, then a class on proper layout and population of the parts and then we'd get to the tone part. It would probably be a two month long class.

The only other way would be to have unpopulated modules and then have class members start populating the board from there.

Then Bruce would have to explain the midi relay system

I was thinking more along the lines of hand etched boards, germanium diodes, hybrid mosfet/tube combos and the list goes on and on. pre-etched boards would stifle creativity by keeping the preamp design predetermined.

Come on guys, don't push it. That's Bruce's business. The Seminar head is just that, a clone head that doesn't represent the most sales of his business. Now the modular stuff is another thing completely.

I can't help myself, pushing past the norm, is how I'm "wired"

Honestly, I don't ever see anything like this happening. Think about it. Even if Bruce was going to entertain this idea, which I doubt he will for obvious reasons, they are so friggin busy right now they aren't even doing seminar head building classes right now. With the GC stuff, E2, power amp, trying to come out with new Modular stuff, and trying to fit a life somewhere in there, these classes could become a thing of the past, or at the very best, scarce.

I for one am just glad they are coming out with new stuff. To me, that's what really matters. If he does classes again someday in the future (seminar head I mean), I consider that a major bonus.

Also, nothing stops you from modding the things you have now, other than the fear of messing up something that already kicks serious tail.

I don't doubt for one second that Bruce et al, are busy. I posed an idea about how to take tone to the next level based on an amazing "concept" that Bruce turned into reality. Maybe its us crazy Michiganders, always trying to shake up the world around us, don't hate us for it. :m17:

I live about a mile from Egnater home base. LOL!

I just think that the module thing is their bread and butter and why mess with that?

Why? Because some of us want more versatility in our tone than what can be achieved by swapping out tubes and caps. I believe evolving module technology would keep people loyal to Bruce's designs. I don't want to have to buy another poweramp from the next wizbang company, if I don't have to.

Honestly, Bruce / Jeff will never do this. They'll ultimately get TONS more questions about issues w/ oscillation, etc., issues w/ people making a design that sounds like poo and blaming it on their board, etc. than it's worth doing.

For modders like Pete / Anthony that truly know what they are doing, that's different, but most of us are definitely not EE's and don't have the kind of knowledge to properly design a PCB board that doesn't have phasing issues, oscillation issues, etc.

The times I had a couple of my modules modded by others than Jeff, there was always quality issues and such that led to oscillation issues and instability issues. This is an area I personally think should be left to the experts like Pete, Bruce, Anthony, and Jeff.

Just my $.02. I'd still love to do a Seminar head someday. That's one amp I would LOVE to have! :)

I am pretty set on all the tones I need for the moment.
When I want to get something new....I ship it to someone who knows what they hell they are doing!
And that certainly isn't me.
I never met Bruce in person but have met Jeff and he is a great straight up guy to talk with.
PS....Still rocking that Frankenstrat I got from ya Jeff!!
Getting great reviews on all who see it!
