Yeah boy!! Scored an E series Fender Strat in Olympic White w/ rosewood board last night at 2 am. This will be hard to explain to my wife

I have an '88 MIJ and it kicks ass. What year is the E series?

84 - 87. I'm going to have to research to find the exact year. :)

I've seen several MIJ strats on craigslist lately. Are they really that good?

They are hit or miss IMO. Some of them are really heavy and stiff feeling. Others feel like really well made Strats. Just kinda depends on what year I guess.

This is one of the old MIJ's and it smokes :)

I'll give it a full beating later and post a review/pics

yeah, its more like they're damn good for the money

Not necessarily the best Strats, period. Of course I like my Stratskind of skanky and hard to play so.... This one ain't a super strat LOL

rosewood fretboard on olympic white?

maple board is the only way to go with an olympic white strat

Newp, sorry. I only buy rosewood boarded Strats :D

Wow, the previous owner had this thing setup like shit, and the stock pickups suck cock.

However, a gentle truss rod adjustment, a real quick tremolo adjustment, and about 10 minutes fine tuning the intonation results in a WONDERFUL guitar. Acoustically loud, has imperfections, doesn't play like a million bucks (you gotta dig with this one), and you can hear the "spank" even unplugged.

Now all of this went away when I kicked on my TS9. Pickups are shrill, trebly, and somehow muddy when you introduce gain along the way to the amp  I mean, really terrible. For cleans they're nice, but the guitar just resonates like a mofo.

Now it's time to start shopping for pickups.... :)

Yeah I did some research and some say that Fender quit production of MIJ models because of this. <shurgs> Who knows

I'll bring it with me when I stop by to demo your SLO clone and you can hear the goodness :)

I have an old MIJ Pinl Paisley Strat. Bone stock and a great player. Also has increased in value due to the paint job I quess. Maple board and single-coils. Real country looking.
