Hello,

I have a Diezel VH4 and a Mesa Dual Recto, I´m runing a Mesa recto traditional 4x12.

The thing is, a lot of people say that the VH4 will sound best with the Diezel 4x12 G12k100 speakers and I´m thinking about Switching the Mesa to a Diezel but I am afraid that the Dual Rect will sound bad because it´s an amp that really doesn´t go well with any cab.

Please advice me in this and what cab it´s the best for the VH4.

thanks

I personally play the VH4 through a Mesa 4x12 oversize cab and love that combination. I think yours is the standard size, right? If I remember correctly (I played the non-oversize cab with my VH4 at a show once) they also worked pretty well together. But in the end it is subjective - are you satisfied with the tone of the VH4 through your cab? If yes, why change? If no, what are you looking to change, tonally? I guess that would make it easier to give recommendations.

Cheers

PS: Cool setup you've got there! Between the VH4 and the Recto I think you've got pretty much all the bases covered!

Yes I got a lot of diferent sounds going on, but of course that´s the German and american sound, there´s a lto of other amps with great signature sounds like the 5150 III and Bogners, I would like to have a Bogner red pedal to use with the channel insert of CH1 and have more sounds.

I just want to get the most out of my VH4, a great amp deserves a great cab but I was worried that the Dual recto wouldn´t work so well with a Diezel cab because the only Cab I liked with the Dual was the mesa cabs

Regarding the amps: sure haha, more amps and tones can never hurt :D

Regarding the cab: It's pretty subjective... quality-wise, I don't think the Mesa Cab would hold back the VH4 at all. But of course it could be that another cab would be more in line with the tones you're going for. For example, I thought the non-oversize Mesa cab was pretty well-balanced and "tight/a little bit stiff" (if I remember correctly). It might be that that's not what you personally enjoy in combination with the VH4. The Diezel cabs are GREAT, and I don't think you could generally go wrong with one. However, they do sound different from the Mesa cabs and if you - overall - like the cab you have now, I'd probably not mess with it to be honest... especially if you have to sell it to get a different one.

Maybe you can play the current setup for a while and see if you like the tones you are getting (with both amps)? If you are satisfied - great! If not, then I'd try out some other cabs and/or maybe try to formulate specifically what you don't like so that people can give concrete recommendations. All of this is "IMHO" of course! At this level of quality (i.e. Mesa, Diezel, Bogner, etc.) I personally think it's more of a "check em out and see which ones speak to you the most" type thing... In any case, sorry for the long rant, and enjoy your VH4!!!

I run both of my dual recs through my Diezel cabs. Both front load new german cabs with V30's. I probably prefer the Diezel cabs with the recto over my Mesa recto cab. Tighter bottom end mainly. You will notice that you need to turn down the treble and turn up the bass. Those oversize cabs pump out the bass.

Good to know,

What about the G12K100s will they sound good with the recto?

Also, does anyone wants to buy a Mesa recto traditional :D

I didn't like my K100's. People say they can handle the low end really well. My experience was that they would actually fart out really easy. I swapped them out for mesa V30's and am much happier. V30's can handle any amount of bass with any tuning and not fart out for me. They sound better too, but I'm in the camp that likes that sizzle that the V30 is famous for. The 100's were just too bland for me.

Ive been using my uberkab with my vh4 and really like how it sounds.
I have a oversize recto cab but never used with the with vh4 because i was thinking it might be looser or muddy in the lows, but i might give it a chance after somebody else said they use it with their vh4.

I use my VH4 and Mesa Roadster (so rectifier) through the traditional mesa 4x12 and love it. I've played it through the Diezel cab and still preferred the Mesa.
