Was wondering if you guys were in my shoes and owned a 101b and a new stock Twin jet and were looking to get one cab to maybe use with both heads would you guys go with the standard 4-12 straight vs the uberkab? I currently own a mesa oversized recto slant cab and while it sounds big it just sounds too fizzy, not tight enough if you will. I have an old 70's marshall straight with gh-30's I think there called and they just dont get it for the hard stuff, cleans yea. So I really cant afford both cabs, and have never owned a x pattern cab or heard one for that matter?
Thanks Robby

I aggree the Uberkab is awesome but I liked all V-30's better over the X-Pattern. I'm using Greenbacks with my XTC and love it. I say sell the oversized cab and get a Bogner or even a standard size Boggie cab and you'll be in better shape. The oversized Boggie cabs are boomy to my ears, no tightness at all.

2 different amps, so it's hard to say... Both require different things from their respective cabs. The new TJ definitely sounds outrageously hot and awesome through the UberKab (75/30 X pattern). I've got the 20thA and have had experience with the 101B, and they simply sound best through everything BUT 75s - V30s, greenbacks, G12H30, M75s, etc. - but not G12T75s.

Tough call.

If you want one that'll do both, get a standard Bogner 4x12 with V30s. You can always throw 75s in there later.

Agreed.

The Twin Jet does sound great with all V30s. I just prefer the mix. Other guys don't like it, so YMMV.

Was entertaining the idea that I could throw the v-30's into the marshall, but i think i dont want to disturb that old cab. I think it is actually worth a little money(vintage) the way it is. the gh30's do sound awesome for cleans recording wise! I found a new Uberkab i could get my hands on for $900.00 so I think I will spring for that and I will have to eventually get a Bog standard as well!! Ohyyyy I hate the whole tryin to sell gear pain in the ass, but the mesa cab is gonna go i think. Hey Ventura what are you currently using cab wise?

I liked i quite a bit, Ubercab is the best cab I have tried. I really am looking to get the 30's x 75's. In my cab,

I cant speak to the XTC, but the Uberschall sounds incredible with the Uberkab (fwiw, I have one thats front loaded). I also own a Mesa Recto cab, and there is simply no contest between it and the Uberkab. The Uberkab simply sounds better than the Mesa in everyway possible!

I owned the uberkab and enjoyed it with my 101b, but when I got my standard v30 cab, the amp took on a whole new life. It was a definite improvement. And, my REV F Recto sounds absolutely astounding with the Bogner v30 cab.

Sold the uberkab and never looked back.

I use a Bogner 20th Ann 4x12 cab V30s. I haven't tried the Twin Jet but ran my Uber rev blue and 20th xtc through it and it sounded great. Had a Marshall JCM800B cab and it did not sound as good to me. It is the only 4x12 cab I own now.

Did not spring for the uber cab yet. Only a matter of time, however tried the uber through the old Marshall with the g12h30's and man what a pleasant surprise. Sounded good, much better than the 101b does for some reason. I dont think it will be #1 but man another nice flavor when I start laying tracks again!!

I love Greenbacks. I stoppped swapping speakers when I tried a quad of greenies with my Ecstacy................I'm using a simple JCM 800 Marshall 1960a cab......and I sold 2 Bogner 4x12's with Vintage 30's in favor of it!

I have the Bogner 4x12 angled with V30's that I use with a 101B. Its a great sounding cab with whatever head I put through it.

I am using an older metal grilled Mesa closed back cab loaded with 4 EVM12L's. I have tried the V30's and the X pattern with the 75's and they didn't sound as good to me as the EV's.
Using the EV's I am setting my treble middle and bass at less extremes to achieve my tone. I can set my controls more towards the middle and have the flexibility for more tonal options, (cuts/boost)
I am using an XTC 20th anniversary.

I could never decide so I went with three cabs for variety. I already have some of this together but by year end I will have the following:

Bogner 212OS (semi open back) with V30s
Stone Age 212C (narrow opening) with Celestion Creambacks G12M-65s
Port City 212OS with Celestion Lynchbacks

This was I will have one of three amps to choose from and one of three cabs to choose from. I get way more tonal flavors by mixing and matching amps, cabs and speakers than I do with guitars.
