Cab impedance question.

Hello!

I have an 8 ohm Diezel 2x12 (FL V30s) and a Marshall 1960A 4x12 (G12T-75s), which is 4 or 16 ohm mono.

Can I run them both at the same time? What jacks on my Herbert should I use (and 4 or 16 on the Marshall)?

Would the 4/16 ohms decision just change the volume of the Marshall relative to the Diezel since they're no the same (I.e 4 louder, 16 quieter)?

Or is this all a bad idea for my amp head as the wrong impedance could damage it or the tubes? Or would the wrong impedance change the tonal resonance/freq response and just make it sound shit?

Cheers,

Phil.

I don't think it is recommended to run an 8 ohm and a 4 (or) 16 ohm cab at the same time. I know I wouldn't. But maybe someone can explain the technicalities.

On another note, you could swap the 16 ohm V30s in the Diezel for 8 ohm ones and that would make your Diezel 4 or 16 ohm too. Then you won't have any problems. To my ears there is not a difference between different ohm settings.

It's not really worth it, as this is something I could do with doing only on a very irregular basis.

Check the Herbert user manual, I think all the different cab connection possibilities are given in this manual.

Yeah, normally you always use 2 cabs of the same impedance. Hence I wondered if you made one a higher impedance does it matter if the total in parallel is a bit higher if it matters, it if it sounds crap, or if it's bad for the amp.
