Bit of advice really i need to replace the cab im using with me VH4 im using a marshal 1936 2x12 super lead. I really dont think it's upto the job ? maybe i am wronge so ? i have started to look into cabs and here's my options i can get a mesa boogie 2x12 rectiifer cab for £540 or a diezel cab 2x12 for £750 may be able to get a better deal on this. What do you think i only use the amp for home use the cab i have really shakes and vibrates bad when i use me amp, i didnt on me old amp a mesa boogie single rectifier bu maybe becuase it was running on lower volume ?

In my experience the mesa cabinet will not hold up at all compared to the Diezel cabinet. If you can find a Diezel cabinet I would go that way if it was my choice.

Absolutely agree. I didn't like the Mesa Cabs with my VH4 at all. Way to boomy and fizzy. If you have the chance get one of the new Diezel cabs. The best you can get for your VH4!

Not sure how Rivera compares in quality to Diezel but I really like my tone. Currently I'm playing with VH4 and Rivera K412T w/ V30 & G12K. Has anyone compared them side by side with Diezel cabs?

I had a Mesa Recto 2x12...sold it! Didn't like it with my VH4... Way too boomy, totally agree ...

Got a Marshall 4x12 with G12T75 in it and love it.

how about a custom made cab i have been in touch with a guy from ebay. He can make cabs to exact spec and i can get one built the same spec as the diezel 2x12 cab for £400 ? i just think £750 is alot for a cab and for home use aswel. I just know this marshall i use is rubbish

I have a 2x12 recto cab I use with my Herbert occasionally. It's not bad, but it's not all that great either. To boomy, not well defined. I'd go with the Diezel cab.

Here is reality...

Material costs are material costs. IF the same materials are used and the same specifications are used the costs should be the same with all things considered equal. In this case you mention, I know it is not equal. We (Diezel) make more cabs (our specifications) then this person you mention. That being said, his cab technically should cost more. I doubt he has the same wood, speakers, tolex, etc. on hand and if so I am sure he didn't get the same volume discount on supplies we do. With this being said, it is not possible to build the same cab for less money. I promise you, if we could sell our amps and cabinets for less we would gladly do so but we refuse to cut corners on quality and we use the absolute best parts available and those key ingredients cost money. I hope this better helps clarify some things.

I would hate for you to be lead to believe you can get the same thing for much less. In no way am I saying that this person can not make a good quality cabinet for you. I am sure the cabinets are very nice and indeed it is possible one could be made to upgrade the cabinet you are presently using so please do not misunderstand and think I am saying bad things about this cabinet maker as I am not. I can also say this person on ebay that can make you the cabinet does not have the new design cabinet to try to copy.

And it's not all about size and material either. I have done quite a few cabs and hifi speakers myself so I think I know something about that kind of stuff. One has to think about how cab is constructed (what kind of joints and why etc.) very carefully. Some "minor" changes here and there might lead to a completely different sounding cab.

It's really not that hard to build a decent cabinet but to build something superior to most stuff on market... That's damn hard.

Yes, have a look inside a Diezel cab. You see proper dado joints, baffles, heavy gauge - hand soldered wiring. What you don't see is shoddy craftsmanship and sheet rock screws.

yeah i get what you are saying, im not a cheap skate i dont normaly go for cheaper discounts or what ever but i was just wondering. so for £750 they are the best you can get it is only bedroom use this marshall is shocking

Why would you drop 750 on a cab for your bedroom? Get the Marshall and be done with it.

thats what i mean, i have a marshall but it vibrates like mad it just cant handle it

Get a cabinet that will deliver the goods once and for all and then you can focus on playing and having fun as this is what it should be all about anyway.
