Doing an overhaul of the cabling used in my home-studio and were just curious to hear other users preferences and experience in regards to getting the output from the Torpedo Live to a soundcard before I go nuts with the visa-card. SPDIF? Any ol' high-level guitar cable? Balanced?

Also, if anyone have any recommendations regarding a rack-bag that fits perfectly to the Torpedo Live I'd highly appreciate it. I've found several that seem decent enough that are like 1 or 2 units high, but are like twice the depth than what'd be needed.

As a sidenote, I've been using the Torpedo Live since November and couldn't be happier. It's made my life so much easier in so many ways I don't even know where to begin. Thanks for a fantastic piece of gear!

Cabling shouldn't be a big problem, what is your DAW interface? If you plan to use the digital output, please be aware that your sessions need to operate at 48kHz or 96kHz.

Thanks for your reply, I'm using a Focusrite soundcard so spdif does seem to be the most convenient.

You'll be fine with a regular guitar cable from Torpedo to focusrite but if you want the best, get a trs-trs cable, lots here https://www.sweetwater.com/c807--Balance ... TRS_to_TRS Length should such that you can ergonomically arrange your workspace without having spaghetti on the floor or behind your workspace.

If you are using a tube amp, a good quality speaker cable will be an asset.

What is the advantage of the TRS to TRS over the typical instrument cable for going from Torpedo to audio interface?

Sound on Sound tackles this here: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jan02/a ... aq0102.asp

Rane tech notes are a great resource too : http://www.rane.com/note110.html read 'em all

short answer, in most home studio applications where gear is all fairly close, it probably won't matter very much but having a dedicated cable is a good idea and at that point, one might as well go balanced. If the soundcard input is unbalanced, the easiest un-balancing method is by far to just use a regular 1/4 TS (guitar cable) cable and be done.
