I have a crackle noise in only clean channel of my EL34 20th XTC. I changed both P1 and P6 that are the tubes for the clean channel and it happens also when loop is in or out. Both blue and red channels seem fine, no noise. I'm out of ideas, any thoughts anyone? All preamp and power tubes are brand new as I re-tubed it after receiving it from Steve_K who I bought it from. I have since replaced V1 and V6 and no difference, noise is still there. BTW, this thing rocks and clearly sounds better than my 101B (which is a particularly great sounding one)or my 6L6 20th XTC as well. Thanks

Try the PI tube#5. Usually # 6 is the culprit. Make sure everything is seated properly.

Brand new amp, ya??

Um...does this cackling/crackling happen at all volume levels? Have you tried a different instrument cable (reason I ask is higher gain channels can hide signal flaws more than clean channels will)?

Different guitar? Same thing - what we're trying to do is isolate. Cable. Guitar. And if it's neither of these, it's a cold solder, loose connection within, bad component.
