Hi,

I just picked up my brand spankin' new OD-100 SE+ EL34 loaded head from the amplounge in Detroit today,

It was an honour to be there where some serious sounding amps are built!!

Are there any fellow cae users that wish to give me a starting points for dialing in some thrash metal megadethish tones?? I'd love to hear you settings!

I play thrash metal ala iron maiden, old metallica, megadeth, ozzy, pantera etc

bump,

Are there not any other users of cae od 100 se??

Mark Day has one.

he's also known as SamHill, I think.

I have a 3+ preamp that sounds like Megadeth.

settings depend on what cabs, cables, guitars, pickups, etc.

turn those knobs, brutha. Congrats on a sweet amp.

Congrats. Like any amp, I start with everything at 12:00 (besides volume), and go from there.

thanks for the help thus far, i have tweaked it and will be for a while until i get my sound but i was just curious to see what everyone else has their settings at?

I am playing through a bogner 4x12 with 2 h30s and 2 v30s with a jackson usa soloist jb in bridge.

Thanks in advance for any help !!

This thing rocks BIGTIME

Well this was one of my settings. I played it on a 4x12 rearloaded v30 cab.
Gain: 2 o'clock
Bass: 9 o'clock
Mids: 10 o'clock
Treble: 2 o'clock
Presence: 4 o'clock
Whomp: Fully engaged
Boost: off
Feedback: cranked clockwise

I had an SE+ for awhile but have since traded it for an SLO100.

For my heavy SE+ tones I had the gain 2:00, Bass: 1:30 Mid: 1:00 Treble: 2-2:30 Presence 2-2:30 Feedback 12:00 and whomp : 1st click, but only at home, I turned it off when playing out.

I used a Mesa Traditional Recto cab with v30s.

Boost on.

I found the amp to be pretty dark, hence my higher treble setting. Turning the mids anywhere below 12:00 really made the amp sound like shit IMO...it didn't behave like most amps as far as the midrange. The controls are pretty interactive, esp. the mid and presence in tandem with the feedback (if I recall) so you might play around with those.

Thanks for the replies again everyone,

I find yes it is a dark sounding amp but like dark sounding amps. This amp in my opinion sounds like the best of the SLO and Uberschall put together. It has the squishyness of the uber but incredible clarity of the slo put into one with its own unique voicing.. to be honest comparing the uber and slo to this is unfair because this just sounds so damn good.

I appreciate all the different settings to experiment, so far after today I'd say im a bit closer to getting my sound/tone. I think if i remember the settings currently are:

channel 1
gain 3
bass 6
mids 4.5
treb 4.5
whomp switch: off
feedback: 0 (min)
channel 2
gain 4-5
bass 4
mids 4.5
treb 4.5
pres 6
Not 100% certain but im sure it is close to this,

Anyhow, definately learning more about how the amps eq shapes the sound, unlike ANY other amp I have tried or owned because there are just so many "shades" of sound to this amp! Truely a tweakers dream!!
