Calused fingertips

Been having problems lately with my left index finger getting real crusty lately with the skin wanting to peel and hang up on the guitar strings. Took a little emery cloth to it and my other fingers on the left hand and now they're smooth as silk. Probably ought to top my fingertips off with a little vitamin E oil or something every now and then to keep them from getting so tough.

Sounds funny but the emery cloth works.

all 4 of mine on my left hand are calused, also my middle and pointing fingers are calused on my right hand from tapping :lol:

i have more of a problem with my finger-nails getting caught in the strings. gotta keep'em short :no:

I've had this issue, and usually I'll take nail clippers and clip the peeling/flaking skin as short as I can. That solves the problem for me, as playing after doing that kinda smooths out the skin "sanding" it down, if you will. If it gets really bad, I'll take some thick superglue on the end of a toothpick, and just lightly smear it across the line where the peeling skin meets the skin underneath. I also use a bit of moistureizer on my hands after I get out of the shower every morning to help prevent this. Not too much, though.

I have used the emery cloth myself and you are right it works great. If I didnt do this occasionally they get so thick they just get snagged on strings,blankets , pussy hair :rock:

and anything else that get in their way.....................John

nothing a little super glue can't fix, believe it.
if you cut you finger, put a dab of super glue on it, and you can play for days, really
