CCV owners whats the difference between the CCV and Marks modded Marshalls?

depends on the mod really... ive owned and played alot of mods that sounded really great, and some that were ok. The biggest thing to me is that the ccv has massive head room and it does not fall apart at stage volumes. It stays tight as shit on the whole volume spectrum.

My aldrich modded plexi has more gain then the ccv and is more modern and can def give the ccv a run for its money, but the ccv trumps it in clarity , volume, its way quieter, a different type of saturation, and way more versatility.

if your ever in ny your more than welcome to come by !

Like Nick said, the CCV stays very fat at all volume levels (John Sykes tone in spades!). To my ear, none of the mods sound like the CCV. I love the mods as well but they are just different variations of Mark's ideas. The HG Jose is very old school EVH, Lynch, etc. The Aldrich is very modern and aggressive, killer distortion. The Ocean is very fat with tons of gain as well (probably the closest to the CCV of my three). My Jose is a 3 channel with a Dumble/Boogie type of lead channel as well (Luke, EJ, Ford etc).

If your ever in Lexington, Kentucky your welcome come by and play them all.....

Killer info guys anyone else agree w Todd that the Ocean mod sounds closest too the CCV? Does Channel 1 sound like the Jose 100 watt mods? Maybe some Mercurys in my 100 watt Marshalls!

No Cameron modded Marshall, but my CCV is nothing like my FJA modded Marshall. I couldn't imagine packing more gain in the Marshall.

But, like Nick and Todd said, the CCV never crumbles, gets squishy or breaks apart at stage volume. You cannot clip the amp at all, even with gain 1 and 2 stacked all he way.

I don't use anywhere near all the gain on either amp. One of Marks tone tricks are is the Mercury Iron. OT/PT and choke.

If you don't figure you will run up on a new CCV anytime soon, check out one of Trace's V-Rock amps at Voodoo. The V-Rock SL with Mercury's and the Aldrich mod might get you somewhere that you need to be tone wise.

I can only imagine what a circuit that Mark designed from the ground up would sound like. The clips that Ive heard sound great. My two Camerons are an Uberschall and a Black Face Bassman, needless to say, I havent had felt the urge to try much of anything for a long time but the CCV is starting to get my attention.lol

I own many Cameron Marshalls just wondering what the tone diff is in comparison to the CCV.

A lot then. Not even close. I think Marks CCV circuits are leaning more toward Bogner than Marshall's. Which Cameron modded Marshall's are you holding?

I thought Channel 1 was supposed to be based on Marks Jose Mod or is his Jose Mod.
I currently have a few Jose Mods and an Ocean/Aldrich. Sold a few others along the way.

Todd what speakers are in the cab you made the clips with using the Cameron modded marshall I sent you ? I really like how you got it to sound.

I think the CCV of course is Mark's Ultimate Expression of what an Amp should sound like... OR - in the last 25 years that he's been working on them, as close as he can come...

It's like taking someone else's stock, and making soup out of it when modding an existing amp. The bulk is already there, and all you can do is add this and that here and there...
Not the same as building one from scratch with your ideas built into the foundation.

Yes... The CCV is like a Nuclear Power Plant..... It NEVER run's out of Steam The thing that strikes you is it never feels like it's straining... It just blows through everything with
such a sense of ease, and confidence, and it never get's shrill like some of the mods I've heard... My HERBERT has Maybe more gain in Channel 3 but it does not always seem
usable... The CCV maintains an Articulation that other amps can't match... While also being Organic and REAL sounding. The Herbert suffers from sounding more like an Electric
device to get that gain, instead of a guitar. When you turn up a lot of amps, it makes you shy away from them... The CCV makes you want to get closer, and stick your head
in the Speakers! :D

Also The CCV is an Amp that makes me play Better... I sound good on it. I can never play as good, or sound as good on the Herbert or most other really over the top amps/mods.

It's just got the best balance, and the thing that struck me the most when first hearing it is... IT WAS HUGE!!! A Half Stack sounded like an entire WALL OF AMPS!

When I heard it with it's Own Cab for the first Time..For Me It Was Love @ First HEAR.

My favorite mod is an older JMP Aldrich; couldn't agree more about the clarity/saturation comment.

The CCV has a certain clarity and feel that I haven't gotten in another amp, Cameron or otherwise.

I agree with what Nick said. My old Jose and Aldrich sounded killer and both had a tiny bit more gain than the CCV, but the CCV's clarity is far better. At low volumes they are all pretty close, but once the CCV is turned up, the amp stays together where the Marshalls fall apart. Of course this is because of the different transformers. Also, the CCV is able to get MANY more sounds than any modded Marshall I have owned.

The versatility was the most surprising thing to me, makes me smile every time I crank it up and hit a big open chord :D

Mark did a great job on this thing, no two ways about it

Damb, you guys are killing me. I wish Mark would answer his phone so I c ould order one of these.

I heard he wasn't taking any orders until the current ones are fulfilled.

Hey Nick, did you ever get a Uber/CCV rig going? I remembered you mentioned it when I was talking about an XTC/CCV rig being the ultimate...
