Cameron jose vs.Voodoo amp jose

Which of these two,cameron vs. voodoo amp come the closest to the jose arrendondo mods,which would be more Van halen 1 sounding(first album).

I used to have a 1970 Marshall Plexi/Super Lead 100W that was modified by Jose Arredondo. I bought it in 1990 off of a guy in New Hampshire who was a huge EVH fan and he had Jose mod the amp to be similar to Ed's (He also had Joe Perry's custom 4x12 cabinets from the Toys in the Attic tour which i didnt buy!). Truthfully, the amp was nothing special. It was more Angus Young than it was Eddie. It had that very "boxy" midrange tone with not alot of OD (typical of a Plexi). It was also very inconsistent sounding... I remember having to leave it on for about an hour before i would gig with it as it never sounded great until it warmed up. It was also a bit noisy (when cranked) and unreliable. I brought it in for sevice once and the tech said Jose did a sloppy job. I ended up selling it for what i paid for it... $500.

The CCV and Mark's interpretation of the Jose mod is a much better soundng amp than the original Jose i owned. I think the mystique and the legend surrounding Jose's Marshall's is very over-rated. The fact that Mark takes a long time to make amps or finish his mods is an even more alluring legend to me than Jose's. Plus the proof is in the tone... Mark makes the best sounding amp.

Last time I was over at Marks we got to talking about the Jose stuff. He was quick to say that "his" Jose is different than what Jose Arredando was up to. Mark hates rip offs and takes pride in going his own direction with things.

You best stay around here for your testosterone. I forgot about the EI tubes you told me about. They came while I was away. Slapped one in V1 of the Cameron. You are right...they really shine like a diamond in a goat's ass! Good call. Also bought some gold pin, balanced JJ's for the PI. Not sure if they do any good, but it freed up a perfectly good Sovtek LPS for something else.
