Hi Rig Talkers,

This is regarding a Mark Cameron Modded Marshall 50watt MKII JTM45 Head.
SN# X00355

I was hoping that maybe someone might have any information on this particular
Mark Cameron Modded head.

Like -

1- The name of the performed mod?
2- The front panel (Modded) functions?
3- Previous owners?
4- Or anything else about this particular head's history

etc....... etc..............

Here's what I do know from looking at the head -

1- Written on the inside of the amps chassis with black permanent marker, is -

2- The "front modded panel knobs" are as follows -

The Indicator light spot now has a knob, that push/pulls (?)

Presence knob - ?
Bass knob - ?
Middle - Push/Pull knob - ?
Treble - Push/Pull knob - ?
High Treble knob - ?
Normal knob - ?

Input 1 upper input jack - ?
Input 1 lower input jack - ?
Input 2 upper input jack - ?
Input 2 lower input jack - ?

3- The "rear panel knobs / jacks" are as follows -

An unlabeled knob - ? (right above where the serial number is)

2 stock looking speaker jacks
(one of those speaker jack has this written around it - Use 1st Inside Lode 16)

Any information on this amp and it's modded functions & features etc........ is greatly appreciated!

Mahalo my Rig Talk friends,
Carlos

That was my amp, I bought it from Josh at Rebel Amps (Who I think got it from Kurt). It was Marks personal amp for awhile. I sold it to the shop in Hawaii on ebay which I am sure is where you found it.

It was/is a great sounding head, push pull pots on the knobs took it into signature Cameron tones. The unlabeled knob on the back is a "bass boost" similar to the whomp switch on the John Suhr heads, good for adding body to low volume playing. I played that head out several times and cranked with the BB Preamp in front of it was a joke. Awesome tones!

It was sold to me as a Doug Aldrich mod Cameron.

Here it is when I had it.

Carlos,

I dont really remember but I do recall the push pulls kicked in the extra gain stages of the head. The High Treble was the master volume and the Normal knob was the pre amp gain.

Hey Carlos,
Sorry I couldn't have been more help on the phone the other day about this amp. I sold it probably 5 years ago. Seeing the pictures brought back some memories for me though. When I got it from Mark he gave me a solid state and a tube rectifier for it and I actually preferred it with the ss rectifier.

I'll check with Mark, Give him a call if you want! ... let me know if you need his digits...

Hey Brudda Chubtone!

How's it going man!

I appreciated the fact that you gave me whatever info you could remember!
It was quite a while back that you had this amp too, so I totally understood!
Your best recollection was really all I could ask of you. Thanks again!
Actually, it was great to just finally meet you, after only reading your many cool threads!

I finally got in touch with Brudda Mark, and he shed some light on the history of this Marshall JTM45 Head,
the different modded stages that he remembered it went through, and he too said that I'm taking him way back,
talking about it!

After I refreshed his memory on this head's modded layout, he pretty much explained to me what the mod is etc........

With that new information, I replugged into the head and all the features worked the way Mark explained to me,
and the head just sounds like a raw little baby brother to my other Cameron Modded 100watt SLP Head!

In comparision to my Cameron Modded Marshall SLP Low/High Gain Jose Head, this JTM45 head sounds like a
Low/Med Gain Jose sounding Head!

I'm trying to write this but Zach has the head just BLASTING a few feet away from me.
I hear breaks every now and then, but now he's not taking any breaks, but is just playing blasting feedbackin' crazzyness!

I finally went over to see what he's up too, and he told me that he figured out the best sounding settings for this head.
When I leaned over him to look at the amps settings, all the knobs were dimed!

Zach said - " the amp is now alive, like "Young Frankenstein"!

Zach's just riffin' VH & Dimartini, BLASTING - just ignoring the phone and any potential customer
wanting to buy something in the store!
He said they're not really going to buy right now, they're just looking, I can tell

The phone is ringing, and I'm trying to signal him to stop feeding back for a minute, so I can answer
this call  -

Ok, he finally see's me and stops. I got to pull the power cable out, because he won't
stop playing 70's & 80's riffs, DIMED!

Ok, talk to you later Brudda Chubtone!
I'm trying to work while this crazy guy has the head dimed!    :D

I CAN'T believe how damned inconsiderate some of these people are... Can't they see that I'm in the middle of a tone session here. Good grief. Now some of these tone noobs have the nerve to ask about Crate amps, while I was just going off on this thing. Oh how cute, how much is this micro cube... bastards.

This thing sounds really good. I think I've ruined the preamp tubes now.

It's only 45 Watts or so, so I figure I can still have children IF I chose to, which isn't the plan.

Mark has some really phenomenal amp tweaking super powers. I am PISSED that I have to go home now, and have to stop jamming. Oh well... next week the big rig gets here and I will be only too happy to plug this JTM and Carlos' Cameron/Jose SLP 100 watter-- along with some other goodies in, and expect to blow the hair, fur and feathers off of every living animal in a 5 mile radius. Oh YES...

Fun Fun Fun... Damned cops (J/K, I just won't answer the door)

EDIT:

The neighbors came over and said their lights were dimming, then asked me to turn down. Screw them! I Told them to get the hell out, or I'd be forced to stop jamming and risk a bad mood-- necessitating throwing them off the balcony. I hate when they ruin my vibe. I was in the zone.

Inconsiderate pricks.
