Hey all. new to the MC discussion here. Just thought I'd share this vid/clip of an amp I'm thinking of getting since it's so hard to get a Cameron mod order with any certainty these days.
It's a Samhill(member)/Egnater seminar head. I don't know if he will do a 100 watt version, but this fifty watt head shown, sounds a lot like the Ocean mod I once heard, very Aldrich too, I thought. Around $1300 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_ZzIeQP9rI

I dunno man, i wouldn't say that sounds much like any of the 3 Camerons i owned. It sounds very cool, but i would say that sounds more like a Suhr modded Marshall rather than a Cameron IMO.

The Cameron stuff doesnt have the low midrange voicing like the amp in that clip... The Cameron's i owned and other Camerons heard, had plenty of low end, but the tone was more voiced in the upper midrange. The Cameron mods have this Lynch-style upper midrange squawk which you can hear a mile off, its very much a trademark characteristic of Cameron's stuff IMO. Its one of the reasons i enjoyed the Cameron stuff so much when i owned them!

All IMO, but i do think some other Cameron owners/users will agree! :) The SamHill Egnater amp does sound killer! I just think its very different to a Cameron.

Cheers,
Dan

the seminar has a pretty well planned circuit design

the preamp schematic looks like a cross between the crunch channel of a CAE preamp and a Uberschall or Diezel Herbert, but missing one gain stage (yeah, srsly!)
I got very surprised, cause I designed a 3-stage channel based on the Herbert, Uberschall and JCM 800 2203 for my amp months ago and that coincidentally was almost the same as the Egnater schematic that the guys on SLOClone posted a week ago, only differing the second stage (mine has a JCM second stage, the Egnater has a Plexi stage)

Bruce should release a cheap china PCB version, and I bet it would sound killer

and no offense, but sam clips with the egnater sound better than any cameron clips I've heard (and I love the cameron tone too)

yeah, I also agree about the low mid thing
but I bet Sam would be able to change that just by swapping one capacitor (lowering the first cathode cap for more upper mid boost/bass cut) and one resistor (a higher value for the slope resistor of the tonestacK)
he could even make it switchable

he could talk to Steve sah5150 too

I can tell you for sure that there's a lot more to it than just changing cathode caps and tonestack components though.. from what im hearing in the clip, i would think the circuit is very different to a Cameron style circuit.
Sure a smaller cap on the first cathode would add a bit more teeth to the tone, and changing the slope resistor would change the tone further but it still wouldnt give you the Cameron tone IMHO.

While I agree it does not sound exactly like a Cameron Marshall, I really like the sound of the amp. He did a nice job on the build and the price is reasonable.
