Hi here is Andrea again.
Surfing the net on the modded Marshall I found Splawn amps.
Has someone played these amps. How would you compare it with Cameron?
Any impression is welcome.

I have owned both. Scott at Splawn does amazing work and his customer service is absolutely top notch!! His builds are done very well and sound great. I much prefer the saturation and low end the camerons have. They just suit my playing much better. To me the splawns are dryer and more tight than the camerons I owned. You should play both really to see which you like.

I own a Cameron Aldrich Marshall and a Splawn Quickrod. I much prefer my Cameron. The Cameron is much easier to play and has a bigger sound than the Splawn. The Splawn is a straight 80's sound with a harder feel and the Cameron is hairier and can give you more gain, saturation and tonal range.

I own both and Love both. Mark Cameron and Scott Splawn are both great at what they have done. If you get the chance you should play both. They are both different takes on tone. I think there is some very good info in the above posts. I do know the splawn amp is very tight and so it will not hide your mistakes/bad playing if there is any because of that. Now the Cameron will also not hide your playing or errors but I find it is a touch closer in the vintage marshall type of feel. More so than the splawn. I can tell you that when you see a guy that buys a new splawn and then like a week later he has it up for sale. It is usually because he does not want to tackle BECOMING A BETTER PLAYER, he would rather go back to an amp that covers his sloppy playing more. This is not the amps fault. When I got my 1st splawn I was kinda astonished at the things I was hearing that I did not hear when I played a marshall plexi for example. But I made a choice to BECOME A BETTER PLAYER and I am alot happier for it. You have to decide. because of this detail I am posting to you the Splawn amps will always hold a good spot in my heart. They really did help me up another step. Cameron amps will just melt your face off with damn gain.  That I also like. and they will give you a bass response to smack ya nuts. So ya see,one amp will show you that you have nuts if ya get it and keep it. the other will let you know you have nuts and depending on where you have the resonance control will thump them jokers till ya sing like prince.

I had a splawn Nitro and a cameron modded purplexi.
Cameron tone by a MILE!
But its in the ear of the listener what is GOD TONE right?

both nice amps, i prefer my camerons... (GEE LIKE YOU GUYS WEREN'T EXPECTING THAT COMMENT OUT OF ME!)

 Both amp lines are awesome. They are different animals. Like, CAT.....AND...DOG..... Both cool animals just not the same. :D

This shit doesn't get old does it? Ever?

I own a Splawn Quickrod and only heard clips of videos of the Cameron. So I may not be the most 'qualified', but I couldn't give a fuck less.
Both amps have their signature tone so I never understood WHY this debate still rages on. It's always Splawn and Cameron. Why not Cameron and Voodoo why not Cameron and 1000 other Hotrodded Marshall manufacturers... why is it always Splawn? And how exactly does Cameron "Win by a mile" when they're different amps? Anyway, whatever floats your boat.

If you want a more saturated tone with a 'liquid'-like quality, then go with Cameron. If you want a drier percussive tone, then go with Splawn. If you fancy Weird Mids, then Splawn's you're amp! LOL! :D

I can't speak to the Cameron (one of these days psychodave and I will hang out and compare the two amps) but the Splawn is a stiff-feeling amp. It hides no mistakes. Not to mention the fact that it cuts through any mix like mofo. So if you're off, it's going to be pretty evident. That said, there are ways to make it more forgiving. I slap either an OD808 or SD-1 and subsequently find it easy to play.

That's my 2 cents. Sorry to interrupt... carry on.

Spot on assesment! Different animals for different tastes.

As an owner of both, I can tell you the resale value of a Cameron modded Marshall is significantly higher than my Splawn. I can sell my Aldrich for what I paid for it (but I would never sell it), I'll take a pretty big loss if I sell the Splawn and it will be harder to sell (I will be selling it soon).

I've owned both and have dealt with both builders. Scott Splawn will not lie to the customer or blow sunshine up the rear about when your amp will be finished. He builds great amps, has excellent customer service and will deliver.

So does all of Scotts great customer service make his amps sound better than Camerons.... NOPE!!!

LOL! :D
You're right... The prospect of never seeing your amp adds an element of adventure that certainly adds to the tone and mojo.

of course you can get more for your modded marshall than if you sold your splawn. They're much harder to come by.
Scott's amps are had much easier.

No, just helps people sleep better at night knowing someone will stand behind their product, and that your investment is protected. Stress and high blood pressure induce or worsen tinitus...so in a matter of speaking, not worrying about seeing your amp again DOES make it sound better.
