Can a MOD50 do Diezel?

I have a Diezel VH4. It's great, but my %13 is better than the ch1, my VHT Deliverance is better than the ch2 (although ch 1&2 DO rock!!!), and ch4 I never use. So basically, I have this monster amp, for ch3, and sometimes ch2.

I'm wondering if the MOD50 can do that Diezel ch3 tones, then with the whole module thing, I can get MORE variety of tones out of it. BTW, this is only for recording, I don't play live, and the amp never gets cranked, so the 120 watts, ain't really helpin' me.

What did you think of Salvation's Benzin clip? I've never played a Diezel so am curious if it's even close....

I have one on the way......I've lent modules out before so if it sparks your interest then let me know.

I'm guessing the power section differences might be an issue..

The Mod 50 can get close with MHG module, but the Diezel has it's own thing going on.
+1 on the Salvation's Benzin. Sounds pretty close.

I also think Egnater would do a custom mod for you. That's how the SL2x came abount.

Thanks for pointing that out. VERY impressive clips. The Benzine clip is similar to a VH4, most especially when it was in the lower gain sections. The higher gain stuff seemed (from the clips) a little looser and wooly than a real VH4. I was really impressed by the his Uberschall module. That was not far off what a Vh4 ch3 can do.

Impressive. I'm gonna have to try and get an Egnater in here first before I would think of selling the Diezel though.

I think a tweaked Seminar could easily get in the ballpark

just needs more bass cut in the preamp, a bright cap for gain pot, less upper mid boosting from the second stage, a bigger treble cap in the EQ section and maybe some adjusts for the power amp
simple mods, actually

don't be fooled by its vintage appearance
it's a wolf in sheep's clothing

I don't know if a Seminar is for me. I don't really want 1 amp to replace the VH4. I was looking at the MOD50 because it might be able to do the VH4, + give me some other tonal options.

the way the gain circuit of the seminar is voiced is closer to a Herbert or Uberschall than to a Marshall, except for the plexi style 2nd gain stage
just a subtle tweaking would be enough to make it more "hi fi" and less british
won't give you tonal versatility, though, but still worth a try, imo

I think it was Bellemy from Musa who said the EG3/4 got him very close to his VH4. I think the VH4 is ultra versatile from Muse to A Perfect Circle to AIC to you name it....super module and cuts live. The MHG can get lost live, depending on if you have another guitarist and depending on his gear. I think with the current crop of Egnater modules and new ones to come out, I am not desiring anything these days. I only need my mod 50 and more modules, LOL! Dude, between the modules and tube changes, you can get what you want. :)

Well... I bought Rareguitars' LynchBox, and I'm sending off a module to Salvation for the Diezel mod. I'll get an A/B going once everything comes together.

The EG34 with a few tweaks cab definitely get in the Diezel ballpark for sure.

The Lynch Box or Randall RM100's have a different power section and feel than the Mod50. I think the Randall would be geared for more of what you are trying to get.

Well the Benzin came and went...maybe it's my setup but I think it lacks the clarity of a Diezel...wa a heck of a lot better when I tried a different tube than the JJ...that was certainly the wrong tube for it.

Module just has too much gain to my ears....not really useable past 12 o'clock (except on the lower gain channel)...bass would get too boomy and the clarity simply wasn't there to do it IMO.

EDIT: I would probably have kept the module around longer if they weren't so expensive...too many other modules tho :D

EDIT2: Never play something that's up for sale ;)

Bummer. What power tubes did you try it with? I was really interested in a getting a Benzin after my Salvado Deluxe.

PS. I got my Angel Plus on thursday and it blows away every high gain module I've tried so far.

Nick, are you thinking more of the EG3/4X???

I have the stock EG3/4 with the 500pF in the tube board.

I'd still like to know if anyone has gotten in the Bogner Überschall, high gain Diezel and the ENGL Powerball realm with an Egnater module (not a Randall).
