Been getting back into Rabin era, Yes lately and they just nail that classic 80’s clean tone, with all the trimmings. Maybe a JC120? Or even a D.I.?

I used to know the dude - James Wilsey.
He was an OG member of MOTUnation back in the Unicornation days.
From his introductory post at Unicornation in 2006. I'll share this 'cause there's some info in it:
I played guitar with Chris Isaak for 12 years and made 4 albums with him. I played the lead gtr on Wicked Game, also sequenced the rhythm track for that song in Performer (pre DP).
I have used Performer (before DP) since version 1, but not for much for several years.
He was an OG member of MOTUnation back in the Unicornation days.
From his introductory post at Unicornation in 2006. I'll share this 'cause there's some info in it:

It is a great tone. But right up there with it is this one, different tone but rich/full/lush are all there. Especially near the end, huge.

I saw them in 87 “small bar” in Raleigh NC-half empty. Great show. Went back to school thinking; ah just clean slow notes by this dude, should be easy to do. Nope! Ain’t happening. I suck and went back to trigonometry problems

80's 62 avri Fender Stratocaster with stock pickups. I'm not sure of the exact year.
James was a member at TGP. " Wicked GTR" Nice guy with a great sense of humor. We had many conversations together. He hated Red Guitars ...lol. Wicked guitar is one of my favorite songs to perform and I think of him every time I play it.
He also did this solo album. Lots of great clean tones there
He was also the original Bass Player for the Avengers 1977-1979 and was pretty proud of that.
Tragic the way he died. It bothers me tell this day. Leaves behind a wife and son

I’ll add I just grabbed an Eventide Tricerachorus pedal from @Bxlxaxkxe and it will do those sounds in spades, kinda rad pedal, it’s getting used for sure

SRV had a nice clean tone. Dick Dale had a pretty cool clean tone. Hank Marvin tone. Where is @Thumbpicker wit duh Chet Atkins? Link Wray had a good clean tone:
