I just don't get it.... is it a blues moster module? is it a Mark IV-ish module? is it a high gain module? what is it and what can it do?!

it says on the egnater website that paired with a T/D is the John Mayer perfect combination which is what I'm sort of after......

can the COD do cleans? or is it a dumbleish type of gain module?

I need clips of the COD can someone point me to the right direction?

It's a puzzling little thing isn't it. The COD by Bruce's description was the Egnater take on a Dumble type sound. I was not able to find that sound, nor any sound I liked inside of the COD. BUT many have found great tones with it. Not the easiest module in the line up to understand or dial in. I personally get way better Dumble sounds with the B channel of my Bassman module with a Zen Drive. YMMV

Here's my "Dumble" / blues stuff I can get with it. The COD really does VERY WELL with 2 NOS Jan Phillips 5751s. That's what I personally use it.

It LOVES single coils...and LOVES my Scumback M75s. Can't wait to try the Weber 12F150 / 12F150T speakers soon! :)

Here's my take as a short-time user.

The COD sounds middy and flat when your ears are keyed in to the more melodious modules, particularly the low-gain ones - in my case, a D/D and a VX.

But if you can disconnect your brain from those modules, the COD delivers some very recognizable tones that can't be had with the others.

It's a unique animal. But as Eric says, it absolutely loves single coils; IMO the higher-gain B channel is fantastic with low-output singles.

I still can't find much love for using it with HB-equipped guitars, or even P-90s.

Only person i've ever heard make the COD scream with buckers...is muudrock. For me...it's a single coil only module. The mids of the buckers...just make the module too congested. It's a single coil or nothing module for me. However...my filtertron TV Jones pickups sound good through it...but I don't consider that a "normal" humbucker! :)

It's not a module I use a lot. But...damn if it's not a module that I would want if I were doing texas blues...funk...etc. For you Joey...you being a Mayer fanboi...you'd love it. I can nail a lot of the types of tones he does with it. 100% recommend it if you are a blues guy..and love to use single coils for blues! :)

It's a living breathing module with tons of mids. IMO, it's what a dumble should sound like.

It's not clean
It's not high gain like a MKIII or MKIV either.

You could play blues with it, but I think it has more of a fusioney sound.

At first, I hated it, but later, it became my favorite module. It makes everything else sound scooped and thin.

I agree with this and like Eric says its amazing with single coils. I dont like it with humbucks.

I've also found it to be extremely picky about the speakers...at least in my setup. I like it with V30's and Elite 80's but did not like it at all with GBs or G1275s.
The COD has a bizarre mesh of mids, highs and lows going on and I think it confuses the brain   . It's not a marshall, it's not a mesa, it's really not anything.

As said by the others, it loves single coils or brighter pickups. But with humbuckers, it will give you thick, warm distortion.

Sounds great with P90s, especially neck pup. In some ways (like gain) it picks up where the BMan leaves off, but I usually roll off the highs (either onboard the guitar or on the module) and go for a Mark I type lead tone with it - tons of singing sustain.

The tones your getting remind me of Chris Duarte. I'm a single coil guy and the COD has grabbed my attention. When the E2 becomes available I'm getting it with a COD.

I LOVE Chris Duarte...at least his 1st two albums mainly. Totally has the "My Way Down" tonage through and through.

For those who have the COD. I HIGHLY recommend putting a second capacitor in the treble bleed circuit on the vertical tube board. There is a open cap slot on the vertical tube board. I put a 390pF silver mica cap...and I just plain love the COD now even more. Really makes the module a bit more even throughout the frequencies...and tames a bit of the top end... Very Two Rock sounding...and really allows humbuckers to sound even better with it.

Definitely something worth trying. I personally prefer the second cap to be a 390pF cap in there. I know Gene (guitarslinger) likes a 1000pF cap as his second cap in there.

Eric,
Thanks for the tip. I'll try that when I get the COD.
