Can someone fill me in on the Bogner Oversized 212?

I was going to order a Stone Age 212C with the three piece removable back. However, I noticed if I buy a used Bogner OS212 I can still have Bogner send me the two panels to make it a semi open back! Does anyone know about the internal bracing or sound posts? Do they connect to the back removable back or is it braced some other way? Curious how it would link up with the two piece back.

Thanks!

look up robtahan on the forum...he had one forever & raved about it. He can answer ur questions..and is a super cool guy.

I've got an OS 2x12- although it's more like an undersized 4x12- only 6" shorter than a standard Bogner 4x12. Mine is closed back though. All tongue & groove joint construction, the bracing on mine runs top to bottom. No contact with the back panel. Great cabs, sound huge!

Thanks Bill, Bogner told me the over sized 212 has a large sound post that runs from the front to back. I have a friend with one who confirmed this. They said this works with the two piece back as well.

The SA 2X12C is tough to beat, especially for what your going for.
The Bogner's sweet also, but I liked it best totally closed.
The SA is great both ways. I hear Donbarzini sarcasim after that comment :D

So maybe I would like the Bogner as is...closed back. Hmmm. If I can get a used Bog 212 for $470 plus shipping....it is hard to pass up...because I'd be selling the speakers anyway. I was Scumbacks ready to go.
Then again, if I had to order the separate two piece back from Bogner...that's another $90.

Resale value is important to me. I hate getting burned! I would get burned probably if I decided to sell the Stone Age a few years from now but the Bogner holds value if you buy it used. Then again maybe the SA would be my be all end all! LOL.
Hell, half the time I think waiting for the Stone Age to be built is half my issue....I have no patience! LOL.

I can't imagine what makes the SA so much better as a partially open back? I mena I trust Bogner if they tell me the two piece open back works just as well. No? Ugh!

Now you have me wondering if I am making a bad move. I already started bidding on a Bog 212 on ebay.

Had one, loved it. Was loaded with a V30 and a G12T75. Thing sounded awesome - closed back - bomber.

As I have gotten older and wiser I have realized cabs sound so much better, bigger, more 3-D, better spread with a partial open back such as the closed back and missing the center 1/3 open. All these years been playing fully closed back and not knowing the possiblities of better tone.

I hope I find the Bogner sounds great as a partial open back. Bogner swears it will kill.

Thing I don't understand is what happens to the speaker jack when you swap the closed back for a partial open back. I guess you have to reinstall into the new panel.

I just read that the Bogner 212 is ported! I am not a fan of porting because they are a pain to mic.

Maybe getting the Stone Age is better....

I wonder why they set the speakers so low in the cabinet.......they are along the bottom of the cab. Why not set them in the middle or higher? Weird.
