My name is Augustin Cristian Apostol, founder of AntonioGuitars.ro, and I’m the luthier who crafted this guitar.
I’m a passionate fan of Metallica, and James Hetfield is the one who inspired me to become a luthier more than 15 years ago. Over the years, I dreamed that one day Hetfield might play on stage with a guitar I built. This aspiration has motivated me to continually improve and push my limits.
I built this guitar with the hope that I might be able to gift it to James Hetfield. Even though this dream might be difficult to realize, I’ve never given up on my passion for this craft.
For its construction, I used only the highest-quality materials: the body is crafted from a single piece of Honduras mahogany, a rare and hard-to-find wood at this size, while the neck is made from two pieces of Honduras mahogany, reinforced with carbon rods for added stability and sustain. The fretboard is Canadian maple, and the brass bridge provides note clarity and articulation. I chose stainless steel frets for durability, a brighter tone, and easier bending.
Building this guitar was challenging, and the finishing process required special care. I worked meticulously to preserve the natural color of the wood, the authentic tone of the guitar, and to ensure the durability of the pyrography on the fretboard and the rest of the body.
To add uniqueness to this musical instrument, I collaborated with Ivan Djuric, #pyrography_djura, an outstanding artist who understood my vision and the high standard I was aiming for. The way the oiled wood feels to the touch, the way it reflects light, and the pyrography... everything about this guitar feels magical, including its tone.
I’d like to thank everyone for their appreciation, as well as those who have supported me on this wonderful path as a luthier specializing in unique guitars.
