Can you measure wall current with a digital multimeter?

Voltage and Current are two different things to measure. You can measure the wall voltage with the AC voltage setting. To measure current draw you have to put the meter in series with what you are measuring.
 
Sticking the leads in the socket on AC will give you your AC voltage. You measure current through the ciruit, for example if you pull out a fuse you set to AC or DC milliamps depending on the ciruit and measure current putting the leads on each end of the fuse holder clamps.

You will probably blow a fuse in you meter checking wall current! With no load it will be very high. :o
