Hello Two Notes fanatics,

I'm a Captor 8/WoS user and have a question regarding to get best possible signal out of my studio monitors using Reaper (DAW) and the Wall of Sound plugin.

The Captor 8 has a output level, my Motu M4 has an input gain level and The wall of sound plugin has also an input/output level. I'm trying to figure out how to set all these parameters to have a full consistent sound out of my Yamaha HS80 studio monitors. Do I have it low on the captor, high on my interface and final adjust it in WoS? Or do I have to put all on lets say 12 o clock and adjusting levels frome there or something else? Hopefully you can help me out with this. Thanks in advance !

always best (IMHO) to get the source signal as rich as possible (but not saturating the levels) - so, amp-to-captor-captor-levels maxed (but not ceiling red). From there, keep MOTU at noon and muck around with WoS - try to maintain as rich a signal as possibly "from the source" as opposed to a conservative 50% green LED source signal that only needs levels-upped during the mix-in/mix-down process.

Thanks Ventura for making it more clear to me. Keeping the Motu at noon and playing with the output level of the Captor at noon or 1 o clock gives me the best results and optimal headroom. Thanks

Hot from the source
Headroom from the I/O

Getting all the rich nuances and overtones from a peaking source - once captured - you can roll down the levels, up the headroom, but you’ll have nailed that full tone and feel

Glad it’s working for ya 🤘
